Hi. I've been restoring some rare material related to the great animator Richard Williams, of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? fame ... Richard turned 75 this year.
I've had offers of material in obscure PAL and NTSC formats .... I recall some stuff offered in U-matic format, and pencil tests using early Lyon-Lamb machines from the mid 1970s.
If people have the facilities to transfer this material and would be interested, do let me know. tygerbug at yahoo .... for my future information I'd be interested in knowing what people out there (especially with interest in this subject) have machines to transfer old outdated types of video, as I might be offered various formats in future ...

are you in the UK? There must be quite a few places that can still re-play u-matic cassettes. The BBC, ITN for two.

Hi - I'm in the US, but those who have the rare video could ship it.
Thanks, all!

Hi Garrett,
Lyon-Lamb made animation controllers which worked in conjunction with U-matic recorders, so a 'Lyon-Lamb machine' would refer to the controller, not some obscure VTR. The tape format would be normal U-matic, so you shouldn't have any problems finding machines to playback these recordings.

Thanks for the advice Steve -- I've written my contacts and we'll see.
I'm presenting an evening of Richard Williams material in San Francisco on May 30th .... I'll start editing the material soon. Should be good times.

"...And the Lion shall lie down with the Lamb and the Umatic..." I had one of those, but I sold it years ago (and far too cheap). Didn't you have the umatic system in the USA?
