Hello All,
I am currently bidding on this reel. I humbly request that people please do not bid against me. As I wish to recover this item for all the fans, would be a shame if it disappeared. I have bought other reels from this source, and have a friend who can view the contents. I am attempting to purchase this reel to be viewed, and hopefully will contain some missing material. As always, I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again for your continued support.
Cheers, Lance.

"and have a friend who can view the contents. "
Perhaps you can enlighten us to the tape format then. There is a suspicion this is an audio recording.

Even if it is just an audio tape, it could still be of potential value to the BBC if it contains an audio recording of the original videotape broadcast of a Doctor Who episode, because chances are it could be of better audio quality that what's in the BBC archives currently, especially if it was recorded on one of those setups where the tape recorder plugs directly into the TV set.
Good luck with your bidding Lance.

Thank you all for being so understanding. Just to let you know I just received the reel of Shibaden videotape I won a week or so ago from the same seller. The tape and case both appear to be in excellent condition, this seller took good care of these reels, they still have their original plastic wrappings ! I believe from the appearance of the reel that this is indeed a reel to reel video recording. The tape width is larger than the size used to record audio on, also I am curious about the brand name of this reel. I have never heard of GP25 before. However this seller did sell a similar brand name reel GP25 video on ebay a few months ago. Does anyone have any info on this brand of reel ? Thank you all again for the support and kind thoughts. Will definitely keep you all updated.
Cheers, Lance.

I recently bought 4 reel to reel tapes from this seller, and a friend of mine who is a reel to reel enthusiast has transferred all of the contents to dvd for me.
There is good and bad news. The good news is that the tapes are in great condition and do contain original off-air material from the very early seventies. (in B/W, of course, as colour home video did not exist then).
The bad news is that on all 4 tapes someone has then re-recorded tacky seventies adult films over 3 quarters of the tape length, leaving just the end of the tapes with original material. I found a bit of a Thames Benny Hill, bits of films and a depressing Victor Borga show, none of which is missing. The person doing the original recording pressed 'pause' during the ad breaks, and there was no continuity.
The only item of interest is a 15 minute segment of the LWT Frost show from 1970, with Eartha Kitt. I have contacted the BFI to see if it is missing, and await a reply.
Quite unrewarding, given the time, money and effort involved.
I recently bought another tape from the seller with Pete and Dud on the label, and this may be more promising. I am getting this copied next week.
I was going to bid on the current tape, but will leave it to Lance, who is genuine. The price has also gone too high already for me.

Good luck, I hope you get a chance to buy it at a reasonable price and that it contains something worth the much appreciated effort.

'Pete and Dud' on the label! There's a chance that might be genuine missing material, then. Oh, I do hope you've got a missing episode of Not Only But Also, Simon.
Or failing that, Fury from the Deep episode five!!!!! :-]
Good work, guys. Stu

Hello All,
Just to let everyone know. That the seller stated in response to a inquiry about the format, which most likely came from a member here since the same question was asked. The seller stated that the pics accidentally got messed up, and that the reel is a Shibaden one. Just thought you all should know about that.
Lance.

Lance,
Do you a player to test these reels on? If so, have you checked out the content of the other reel you recently purchased?
Brian.
