ok i have seen some mad ideas on here; well 'mad' as any in terms of locations of programmes etc. anyway this is only an idea but i seem to remeber in the 1980's blue peter did a feature on Dr who' as some bloke had made a low buget dalek film they did a comparison of this with other dalek bits of 'dr who' anyone know what was shown / episodes - seem to remember one was a b&w clip.
here is my idea and it is v controversial there are no more complete episodes to recover. all bbc episodes in other tv stations' hands were junked at a guess other broadcasters phoned bbc saying 'do you want them back?' bbc 'no' so they were all destroyed

I recall a 'Blue Peter' special from 1979, which promoted 'Destiny of the Daleks' (and what a disappointment that was). Don't remember any clips, though. By the 1980s, the archive purge had come to an end, so any b/w clips used would be from extant episodes.
I'm not sure your idea is all that controversial now, after the 'Marco Polo' fiasco. I'd be amazed if any more missing 'Who' episodes turn up. There may be a few out there but there's no guarantee they'll ever resurface. I know some people want to believe we'll see another 40 episodes returned or maybe all 108. This is mere wishful thinking. The recovery rate has drastically declined since the 1980s. At least we can be grateful that nearly 60% of the 1960s episodes did survive. Under BBC policy of the time, it should have been closer to 0%.

All the Blue Peter items have been logged and looked into. The only feature that I can think of which even vaguely fits your description is when they had Stuart Evans in the studio demonstrating his model Daleks (around 1985/86), where they had constructed a dramatised scene for the start of the item. No missing clips were used though. That was fairly standard practice. If stations weren't in a position to return material to the BBC or cycle it on to other broadcasters, they were under instruction to destroy the films once they had finished with them. Richard

Has anything come of the recent Blue Peter appeal for missing who ? I have not heard a word since the initial news was posted. Most likely, nothing has been found yet. I was just currious that is all.

Nothing came of it, so far as I know. A long shot that didn't pay off. Worth a try, though.
