Hi Lance, it sounds like Ian is pretty much saying that everything so far has been a hoax that he's been checking up on this year. I'm hoping that does'nt include the lead that you have been talking about? Not asking what it is but just hope there are still a few he's looking into including yours that could be genuine.

I remember reading about this a while ago, on An Unearthly Child board which is no more due to the conduct of its owner.
I am sorry to read in this thread that the BBC doesn't seem that interested. Personally I think the recovery of the documentary could be a fanastic find.
I can't find any updates on this online, so I hope its Ok to ask with a copy has been viewed, and what it contained ?
Also any news on the recovery of the 15min of stuff ?
This is great work Lance.

Hello All,
There has not been much more happening considering this item. However I am still in close contact with an archivist at the CBC, of which has obtained and viewed the documentary. He states there is some intriguing studio footage present on the documentary, did not say anything about clips, who knows. It is possible there is footage of Newman on set of one of the BBC TV shows he created, hopefully something from Doctor Who, fingers crossed for a set from Power of The Daleks. They are still going through paperwork on the subject to release a research copy for personal viewing to me. However, he said they are closer to the end now. So, sometime soon I should be siting down with a cup of tea and watching a vintage Documentary with the Creator of Doctor Who. I will then alert the appropriate authorities if anything is there they should know about, and of the mystery studio footage that is present there. Fingers Crossed everyone. I will keep you updated on any developments.
Lance.

Hello Stuart,
It seems like the CBC is taking their dear time with this copy for me. However that is understandable, I am sure most broadcasters are bussy this Christmas season. I will drop another message off and see what they say. As I stated before these things take time, this one is no exception to that. The minute I hear anything I will let you all know.
However I am excited by what he did tell me in the last e-mail. It sounds like there is footage of Newman being interviewed in a BBC studio of 1966 ! I am hoping that there could be some intriguing behind the scenes footage here of Newman on set ! This was also the time of the regeneration from Hartnell to Troughton. It seems likely they might have some material from Power of the Daleks, or Tenth Planet. Either of those stories would be very neat to see behind the scenes footage for. In the words of William Hartnell Merry Christmas to all of you at home ( Hartnell in Feast Of Steven ). That would of made a great Christmas special to show this time of year.
I also wanted to say thank you to all here who have shown a very large amount of support for my efforts here. They are greatly appreciated, thank you so much.

Thanks for the update Lance - sounds like you're doing good work and the documentary, whether it has any Who on it or not, sounds very interesting.
Have a good New Year,

Update:
I have finally received permission to get a hold of a research copy of The Sydney Newman Interview. It just took the CBC a way long time to get official permission to release a copy for my research. It is not too expensive either $40.00 or so, not bad at all, cheaper than the first $100 estimate. I have to fill out a waver, send in the $, and then I will let all you know when it arrives.
I have also recently located and purchased a original reel to reel video from a UK collector that states it has footage of Peter Sellers, Spike Mulligan, and Harry Secoumbe I believe. It is stated as being 1960's to early 1970's, so fingers crossed it contains some missing footage of Peter Sellers of Goon and Pink Panther fame.
Cheers, Lance.

It is taking some time to clear everything, they are very meticulous about these things, as they well should be. I should have some more information for you all soon. Thank you again for the continued support, and patience (me as well for the CBC) in this matter.
Cheers, Lance.

Update;
Finally, all has been cleared, took a long time. Thought everything was done in January, then had to go through some further paperwork for the consultation copy to be released. However, I just got a e-mail from a member of the CBC Archive sales department who I had been discussing this issue with. He has stated he will be sending me a screening copy after the 3rd of July, Nice 4th of July present ! Hope it was worth the wait and hastle, can't wait to see what is there. Will report back when I recive further news.
Cheers, Lance.

Hello Again Joenirvana:
It Is indeed. I have sent the info to a friend of mine who is in a better position to have a look. As for whether this might contain the clips, I do not know. The description does not go into that minutia of detail unfortunately, however anything is possible. Definitely should be considered for a DVD release on a early hartnell or troughton release, since it dates from around the first regeneration ( 1966) , who knows maybe a clip or two from tenth planet or power of the daleks, in light of the recent first regeneration of Hartnell to Troughton, who knows, will in a bout a week or so, shipping can take a while, but will see if I can get it shipped faster.
It also stated it shows a TV crew at the BBC setting up the set to shoot a TV program, will not know until it arrives.
Lance.
