Hello All,
I was re-reading over the Abominable Snowmen posts and I saw that several episodes of Doctor Who were sent to Singapore, but their fate is unknown. Here is a list of the stories:
SENT TO SINGAPORE: Galaxy 4 The Myth Makers The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve The Celestial Toymaker The Savages The Smugglers The Tenth Planet Power of the Daleks
What television company were the episodes originally sent to? Was it this one:
Mediacorp Enterainment Pty. Ltd. (formerly Television Corp. of Singapore) Library E108, Caldecott Broadcast Centre, Andrew Road, Singapore 299939 Tel: (65) 350-3144 Fax: (65) 355-1201
Could they possess missing material? If anyone has any info or input it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Lance.

Mediacorp Entertainment has *nothing* to do with TV Singapura. So please don't go bothering them! Given that Singapore sent The War Machines (also sent there from NZ) to Nigeria, its possible the others went there as well. Jon Preddle

Thanks for the fast reply Jon. Is'nt it possible for some film prints to be taken home by ex-TV Singapura personel ? Are there any film collectors groups in Singapore?
Thanks, Lance.

Thanks for the fast reply Jon. Is'nt it possible for some film prints to be taken home by ex-TV Singapura personel ? Are there any film collectors groups in Singapore? Thanks, Lance. Why is it that some people on this forum hold this rather bizarre belief that people who work at TV stations around the world are a bunch of film thieves? ? Yes, it's possible some one did take film prints, but what would be the point unless they had the equipment to screen it? DW hasn't screened in Singapore since the early 1970s. There mightbe film collector groups in Singapore, just as their might be groups who collect stamps. Who knows? Why do't you try a google serach for "film collectors" + "Singapore" and see what comes up? Bill

Why is it that some people on this forum hold this rather bizarre belief that people who work at TV stations around the world are a bunch of film thieves? ? Probably because they would like to believe that further missing episodes could be returned rather than accept the possibility that they're gone forever. I do think it's unlikely that many prints were stolen though. Apart from the obvious legal and morale implications, there are also two other things to consider - the people in question would risk losing their jobs and the films aren't exactly small. Then there are other factors to take into consideration, such as what are the chances that what was taken was a missing Doctor Who episode, what are the chances that they still have the print(s), what are the chances that the prints have survived and so on.

I do not appreciate being labled Ethan. Please keep any rude comments you may have to yourself. I do see your point however, the employees might be faced with the fact of loosing thier jobs. But there is also the thought that the BBC obviously did not want these film prints anymore, so who would miss something which is going to be destroyed in the first place? True, the fate and storage of film prints has to be taken into consideration as well, but the print of Day of Armageddon looked ok after being in the posession of a private individual. This is just a view that I was thinking about. If anyone has any non-rude comments please post a reply.
Thanks, Lance.

Sorry, maybe I misinterpreted your earlier posting Ethan. I guess I was wrong on that earlier statement, please accept my deepest apologies on that matter. I hope that this issue will be forgiven. Sorry for that man.
Lance.
