Hi all, I noticed on Ebay a while ago, a Philips el 3400 video tape recorder, from 1963......................all valve, and in super condition; now, a friend of mine who was running a duplication service is relocating, and has now disposed of his el3400, and later n1500 and n1700 machines.........................they are about, and do crop up from time to time........................... and they may have missing episodes , or clips, on the tapes................... then again, they may have been wiped over about 200 times!-- video was available (at a price) in the domestic/ schools/college settings from about 1963, so look out for them...........................incidentally, werent a couple of lost Steptoes returned this way?...........all the best, ianj

If he's a friend of your, then have a word. I doubt he'll chuck the stuff out without checking it, and if he does, ask him to let you get it checked out first. Usual caveat though: as with all old format tapes, getting a playback is increasingly difficult, and the chances of there still being anything of any interest on the tapes is minuscule. Tapes were bleedin' expensive in the days before VHS, and would generally have been reused until either the tapes or the machines expired. But as always, good luck, and I hope you find something!
