So possibly there is light at the end of the tunnel after all ! Not quite sure how you equate someone selling Super 8 films that were once commercially available anyway with the possibility of of ex-BBC film prints turning up at a car boot. As has been pointed out, there is no evidence of missing episodes *ever* having been recovered from a bog-standard car boot sale. That's not to say that it'll never happen, but if it does, it will be pure coincidence that someone happens to be selling one and someone else who knows what it is happens to buy it. The only way to be sure is to arrange for missing episode hunters to be at every single car boot in the country from now on, and to stay throughout the entire duration of each sale (because sellers come and go across the whole 7 hours or so that the typical boot sale runs). A very tall order indeed, but no more ridiculous than some of the other desperate ideas presented here...

As I stated previously, it was just an idea. I did not believe that anything would ever come of it. Such as that rumor of the existence of Mission to the Unknown at a sale in England, was it a rumor? I never heard the end of it. Or did it actually have some merrit in truth? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Lance.

It turned out to be a four minute extract from an episode of The Chase, apparently...

I shop at ebay pretty regularly. I strictly only but Doctor Who associated stuff though; DVDs, videos, etc. I recently got a trading card from 1965. It was an 'Evil of the Daleks' one and signed by Frazer Hines. I was on there a couple of weeks ago looking at the older ones. I've become interested in seeing the black and white episodes, so I was doing random searches. During one of these searches, I came across someone who was selling 'The Tenth Planet'. I clicked on it and it said 'includes the first ever regeneration sequence', or something along those lines. It was only until after when I was looking through a list of missing episodes, that I realised that was impossible, as the episode didn't exist. Unless... I wasn't sure if the BBC would be bothered about something like that. It was ebay. And generally, most people don't trust ebay when it comes to stuff like that. But in the end I emailed the BBC yesterday. It was something and it had been bothering me so now it's off my back. If it doesn't help the BBC find the missing episode, then I'm sorry I wasted their time. But it's something and I'm glad it's off my tail. Another reason I emailed them in the end, was because I'd heard a rumor before that someone had a copy of it, but they weren't going to give it to the BBC. I read it in an article, but can't remember whether or not they found out whether it has a hoax.

Err...it was a reconstruction of the episode, containing the regeneration sequence which certainly does exist.
