NOTHING AT THE END OF THE LANE
This is just to inform everyone that after a *very* long six-year wait, the second issue of the highly-acclaimed Nothing at the End of the Lane - The Magazine of Doctor Who Research & Restoration is now available.
In this 64-page issue, you’ll find within…
=============================================
JOHN CURA - PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE LOST ARCHIVE
A detailed and fully illustrated look at John Cura and his tele-snap empire from his first contact with the BBC in 1947 through to his death in April 1969, together with full details of all his known work on Doctor Who, researched from the BBC’s own files.
NO FURTHER INTEREST
Andrew Pixley takes a detailed look at the surviving BBC documentation, which reveals what happened of the original Doctor Who master videotapes from the Hartnell and Troughton eras.
WITHDRAWN, DE-ACCESSIONED AND JUNKED
As a companion piece to Andrew’s article, we look at the fate of the BBC Enterprises film prints in the light of newly discovered archival documents, and how recent research has managed to dispel a few old myths along the way!
8MM
With the focus of many on the lost 16mm episodes, we take a look at the potential treasure trove of material that survives on the domestic 8mm format, giving a full breakdown of what is already known to exist as well as evidence of how more may be just lying there, waiting to be found…
OUT OF THE VAULTS - REVISITED!
Eight years after the original DWM articles, Richard Molesworth and Mark Parmerter look at the various discoveries of Doctor Who film and VT material made since 1999, when The Lion was recovered from New Zealand, and we find out that there’s more than you might think!
THE MAKING OF HOWE’S TRANCENDENTAL TOYBOX
David J Howe takes us through his own long and personal crusade to produce an accurate guide to Doctor Who merchandise, from his first early schoolboy efforts through to finally achieving his ultimate goal with Telos Publishing. What difficult decisions had to be made along the way? David tells us all…
DOCTOR WHO RECONSTRUCTED
We talk to Michael Stevens from BBC Audio and James Goss from the BBC’s Cult website about their work on the new Doctor Who Reconstructed MP3 range and look at the challenges that they’ve faced bringing The Power of the Daleks to the shelves.
CARBON COPIES
Derek Handley looks at the Loose Cannon reconstructions of Marco Polo and Day of Armageddon in the light of the recent tele-snap and episode recoveries. In creating their reconstructions, what guided Loose Cannon’s creative decisions and exactly how close did they get to the originals?
And much, much more, including for the first time, the tele-snaps for final episode of The Tenth Planet presented in full colour, courtesy of “Babel_Fish” himself - Stuart Humphryes.
Orders can now be placed for Issue 2 online via the Nothing at the End of the Lane website.
