Ive just read that the new series of Doctor Who recieved 10 million viewers, on a Saturday night! Cant be bad.............................................ianj

Still less than 1 in 5 then .... OK, I realise that 10 million is considered a massive TV audience these days (about 20 times as many as critic faves like the awful Office for instance), but I do question the methods used for counting viewers.

we shall have to see if christopher eccleston's press release has any effect on the ratings, and he was only promoting it last friday.

To be honest, NOW I don't think it will have much effect on the ratings, although I did when it was first announced. I think we have to look at the postitive things rather than the negative - twelve more episodes of Series One, a Christmas special, a regeneration, a tenth Doctor (imagine the publicity for those three!!!) and Series Two. I think the positive publicity to come from the regeneration and tenth Doctor in particular will more than cancel out any negative. It will probably do more good than bad, though I don't think I will ever think of Eccelston as the current Doctor sadly.

no not now he's going, if it is bill nighy, he'll stay forever, still, I'm sure Chris will go out on a high note now, and won't have time to do badly(I hope).
