Hello. I have only recently discovered this excellent site, and upon perusing through the threads, I have noticed various posts refering to Australian film collector Bernie Kent. Having known Bernie for many many years, I can assure everybody who reads this site that Bernie Kent has NO missing episodes of Doctor Who in his collection. As far as I am aware,he never has.He is just not interested in that kind of film, prefering to collect what he considers 'cassics' such as Hollywood material, silents etc. I am sorry to dissapoint you all,but this is fact.As I have said, before moving to London,I knew him for years - he knows of my interest in Doctor Who, and I would have known if he had any 16mm prints of it.I saw his collection many times. Once again,I am so sorry to dissapoint.

I'm sure you're right, but it's worth checking out, surely? After all, you could be a hoaxer unless you can prove you knew Bernie and even that's no guarentee.

A HOAXER !!! If he is (which I doubt), he would be the first person ever to hoax about knowing where missing episodes are NOT to be found!!! Some people are becoming so blinkered in there beliefs, they have stopped trusting anyone. A very sad state of affairs.

I admit that I am very distrusting when it comes to message boards and missing episodes. Plus, fans are weird things and there's probably someone out there who would rather not see The Space Pirates returned or even has a copy of their own and thus wants to keep it missing. I don't know. Like I said, the original poster probably is right, but, if I was Stephen, I wouldn't give up this particular trail on the say so of someone who probably is telling the truth, but might possibly not be. I mean, things could have changed since the original poster knew him and he might have acquired the episodes or whatever.
Who knows? (Bernie probably does.) I feel sorry for poor Bernie. I wonder why he was picked on to start a rumour about. Is he a well known person?

There has been may romours relating to Bernie over the years, there has to be some grain of truth, whatever the truth turns out to be. Mr Ian Levine might know if Bernie ever had anything. As far as I know Ian has contacted many Collectors in Australia, but I don't know if he has ever heard of a Bernie Kent, it would be interseting to know.

There has been may romours relating to Bernie over the years, there has to be some grain of truth Why does there ? There has been many examples through the years of very minor bits of information being twisted and turned and taken as fact. Even some intention spoofs and jokes have been taken by some people and presented as fact.

That's true Clive, but does that mean that Stephen should give up this trail on the probability that Bernie doesn't have any Doctor Who (is it possible he has non-Doctor Who missing episodes, by the way?). Doctor Who recoveries always laugh in the face of probability - who'd have thought we'd ever see one episode of The Daleks' Master Plan, never mind three?
I think Stephen should continue his investigations and if Bernie has nothing of value, then the rumour is finally laid to rest. Either way sounds worthwhile to me, although I live in the misguided hope that he does indeed have The Space Pirates and more!

FAO: Stephen Quite by chance, I found the following information referring to Bernie Kent in a news archive: Seems the original poster is probably right.

Y'know, I just thought of something. Even if Bernie Kent doesn't have any lost eps, He still might be able to point us in the right direction of where we might be able to find something. He should have contacts with other collectors in Australia, NZ, and elsewhere. I think it could be worthwhile to contact him.

Please Please Please don't annoy film collectors -- it will get you nowhere. Already the film collector community has a very low regard for people who constantly post messages on film collector boards asking about missing Dr. Who .... Someone who knows Bernie posted here that he doesn't have any missing Dr. Who episodes -- what else do you need? A sword affidavit??? Y'know, I just thought of something. I dunno.... how sharp is it? ;D Look, I just said he might turn out that he might know someone who just may have a missing ep or info about a missing ep. I'm not even sure if he's the guy Adrian (or was it Aidan? I's been so long that I'm not even sure anymore!)

Just got round to reading the follow up posts to my thread about Bernie Kent. I am sorry if it has dissapointed you, but what I said is fact. Bernie knows of my love of all things sci fi and used to rib me quite frequently about it. If he HAD got something that was known to be missing though,he would have definitely informed me - he is a great guy.He would certainly let the BBC have copies of anything that is missing - and I have provided many lists to him in the hope that he will inform me if he does stumble accross anything - or indeed anyone who may know the whereabouts of missing prints.
By all means, continue to try and contact him if you wish, but you will be dissapointed. Sorry
