completely OT, I know, but............. I wonder if anyone can help me here? I am just about to start making a TV documentary / video / DVD of the restoration of an old racing car. I want to use some classical music in the programme (Vivaldi etc) and was wondering if any classical music is COPYRIGHT FREE. Does anyone know, & if so,where do I get it?? Thank you!

The composition is probably public domain IE well out of copyright. However this does not mean the performance is. This is why video production companies employ researchers to sort out what could be a complete mine field of litigation. If you are trying to do this on your own then your best bet is to go to someone like the Warner Chappel Library. They can provide music (for a fee of course) which is cleared for use in productions. Or have a chat with the Musical copyright society about what you want to do.

this is the address www.mcps.co.uk/they should be able to tell you everything you need to know. Just remember every piece of music or film is unique in how it is copyright protected. IE some are very easy to clear, some are real headaches. hope that is of help?
