Sorry to bring this up, but which songs were removed from "Evil", "Spearhead", "Revelation" and "Remembrance" and what were they replaced with? I'd be GUTTED to loose the Ticket to Ride music from The Chase as I absolutely adore the scene and it's my favourite Beatles song to boot! Not sure of the songs for "Revelation" or "Remembrance" but as far as I'm aware the others are as follows: "Evil" - Paperback Writer (The Beatles) "Evil" - Nobody Knows the Trouble... (The Seekers - ?) "Spearhead" - Oh Well: Part 2 (Fleetwood Mac) Correct me if I'm wrong - I think these are the ones but could be mistaken...

Wouldn't notice the "Spearhead" track if it bit me on the bum, but I'll certainly miss the "Evil" tracks when I get round to listening to the CD release. Actually, I'll probably wait for the Doctor Who Reconstructed release. But, anyway, I will miss those tracks. I'm probably wrong, but was the "Revelation" track an Elvis track? Or is that still there? Or was it ever there? For some reason, I have a clear memory of the DJ playing an Elvis song (as I'd only just bought one of his albums at the time and the song I think I recall was on the album).

If the Chase was to be released on DVD I am sure that the BBC will think up some other cool who goodie to make up for the missing Beatles clip. Just have to wait until the BBC decides to release the Chase on DVD.
Thanks,Lance.

Personally, I'd rather wait and see what developments occur in the future. It would be a terrible shame alter this classic moment in any way. With the other edited music scenes (such as Spearhead - mentioned above), that's not so bad as it's only music, but, in The Chase, the music is an essential part of the scene.

Very true Ben, I truely hope that by some chance they do include the Beatles scene. Altering a classic vintage episode of Doctor Who somehow seems cruel, and unjust. We will just have to wait and see what happens in the future.

Personally, I'd rather wait and see what developments occur in the future. Which is basically the approach that the BBC take as well. Rights change hands all the time and what may be unclearable today could be okay next year. However, as far as I understand it, the problem rests with Apple Corp. so the problem might be a little more far-reaching! If the rights remain unclearable, it would be possible to re-edit the sequence without to much problem. The visuals can remain (they're BBC copyright anyway, hailing from Top of the Pops), it would just be a matter of dubbing a piece of clearable music over the top and trying to make it fit the pictures as best as possible. It could be that a song could be used that the Beatles covered but which isn't covered by the current rights ("Do You Want to Know a Secret" might be in this position). Richard

Does Ian mouth the lyrics to Ticket to Ride in that scene or does he just dance to the music? Not that it matters much.
On a side-note, it's interesting to note in comparison to Rose how shamelessly padded The Chase is. We'd never see a sequence like this in the new series, I'd bet. Think I'll have to dig out my video of The Chase; it s been a long time!
(Did I mention that Ticket to Ride is my favourite Beatles song?)

'Do you want to know a Secret' was a Beatles composition, but I know what you mean Written by Lennon & McCartney, yes - but the fact that is was recorded by Billy J Kramer first *might* make a difference. Or it might not! ;D Richard

If the rights to Beatles songs are unobtainable how have the BBC got round it for the DVD release of the flipside of dominic hyde. This release contains an orchestral arrangement of Yesterday and a guitar rendition of Here Comes The Sun. This has previously presented an earlier release of this title but these clips have not been changed or excised from original transmission. As far as I am aware the rights to the music itself should nto change regardless of the artist? Please correct me if I am wrong
