Hi, Have just heard briefly that in Australia, episodes were bicycled all over the country for the different ABC stations to show them at diffent times in different states. Is this true and would the ABC have sent the original films all over the country or copies. And would they all eventually end up back at the ABC main office. Does anyone know how many stations this would involve. I'd suspect that this would have already been looked into but I have never really heard much about the search for missing episodes in Australia. I've always imagined a full set of Dr Who prints residing in some vault somewhere in Tasmania

I also asked this question on the RT forum for miising episodes and here are a few answers I recieved Start quote Chameleon Factor Issue 78. Martin Dunne wrote an article called "A Separate Adventure: Who in AU (B&W)". From a missing episodes point of view the most telling points made in this artcle are: 1. Duplicate prints were struck of the following "missing/incomplete" stories: Marco Polo, The Reign of Terror, The Crusades, Galaxy 4, The Massacre, The Celestial Toymaker, The Savages, The Smugglers, The Tenth Planet, The Power of the Daleks, The Highlanders, The Underwater Menace, The Moonbase, The Macra Terror, The Facless Ones, The Space Pirates. 2. The Film Censorship Board received viewing prints of Mission to the Unknown and Daleks' Master Plan (sans ep 7), and these prints were subsequently not account for. The article also gives a good broadcast history of B/W Who. Interesting stuff. If anyone wants to order a copy, the chaps at SADWFC may be able to help. www.sfsa.org.au end quote and start quote They also returned many original PAL tapes, esp for season 11. A well informed source within the ABC claims the archives have not been fully searched. To this day they are still finding episodes of shows believed lost. end quote. These answers then start to make me wonder and ask the next lot of questions What happened to the prints I would have thought the Australian Archives to be one of the first places that the BBC would have looked to recover missing episodes of TV shows that they no longer held Are these archives in one city or dotted all over the country Thanks again for reading Darren

From what I have seen the Doctor Who community has slightly forgotten that in Australia there may be missing episodes of Doctor Who. I just started a new thread trying to discuss how possibly a Australian fan might be able to grant access to the ABC archives (Which I understand have not been fully searched, and could still contain missing episodes. Hey anything is worth a try, especially if it has a chance of showing some promising results. Come on guys this make this happen, what do you say?
