I've been looking for a post I saw on the missing episodes forum several months ago. It was from a regular and well known poster on here who stated something about collectors that still had material including the lost sci fi.. If you are refering to the guy with a from andromeda then yes, it's true but short of kicking down his door, blowing hiskneecaps off and taking it, nothing can be done.

Actually I had forgotten about the Andromeda episode. The post I read could have been talking about that episode but it did'nt say. It sounded more like he was talking about several episodes of different things and just included sci fi programs. I'll keep looking for the post I'm sure it's still on here somewhere. Just out of curiosity is the Andromeda episode the only one known to be in private hands?

I did try and follow this up. There do seem to be 2 reels (not an entire ep).
Also, there also does seem to be some possibility of other episodes existing. When I have time I'll try and follow up on this.

Don't know if this post refers back to one of my postings?
Around circa 1991 - 92, 16mm film collector Mick Hall was going through a set of lists from other collectors assessing what might be good buys. I was advising as there were some BBC item titles Mick needed information on.
Items I was able to provide information on were 'The monsters', having discussed this series with technician Steve Herbert; who also knew David Myatt at the BBC (1962 series); 'The Big Pull', which Timescreen had written up on, and 'A for Andromeda' - (face of the tiger). These items were all known (or stated) to be missing from the archive. Anyone who has dealt with Mick Hall will know Mick is an absolutely straight and honest source of information on the circuit, and respected for this.
Mick said as far as I can recall, the first two items had already been sold. Ian Levine was consulted on the 'A for Andromeda', but declined to step in as he felt that the asking price was much too high for a single episode, stating that if it had been the complete serial he would have been interested. These were in 16mm & 35mm print form. The former series titles were complete runs, as stated by Mick. Presumably they were all sold on, though I have no further information I can offer.

What's wrong with doing just that? I'm not a fan of Andromeda, but I'd still like to see it returned. Someone just break into his house whilst he's out and steal it. Or swap it with a blank reel or whatever format it is.

Am I right in thinking that Episodes 2 and 4 are the edited episodes (of The Time Meddler) and that the auctioned episodes exists complete in the BBC archives?
