Maybe a little off topic as none of this is lost. But thought some of you may be interested to see such a fantastic collection of archive material being released.

The Thrill Of It All: A Visual History 1972 - 1982 is the definitive Roxy Music DVD. It vividly captures the band's recording career, packed with live footage, much of it previously unseen in the UK and their back catalogue of promo videos.

For all their imitators and admirers, no one has ever successfully cloned the unique and indefinable combination of elements that made Roxy Music one of the most influential bands in rock music history. Now for the first time with the release of The Thrill Of It All, fans are given the opportunity to take a comprehensive look back at the career of a band that combined idiosyncratic experimentation, sophisticated wit and a highly developed visual presentation.

Following their early years with performances at the Royal College of Art and on the Old Grey Whistle Test, to their iconic performances on Top Of The Pops and including live material from many of their memorable gigs the DVD is a visual feast which will satisfy even the most ardent Roxy fans. Perhaps most significantly is footage from the Montreux Rose Festival - the last filmed performance of Brian Eno with the band.

With memorable TV performances for singles like Virginia Plain, Do The Strand and Pyjamarama classic videos for tracks like Avalon and Jealous Guy and the unforgettable live recordings of tracks like Editions Of You and Street Life this DVD really demonstrates a band who triumphantly combined both style and substance.

Thanks for that. I'm a big fan of Roxy - got all the albums on vinyl (except best ofs). Saw them in their prime - when Eno was still a member.

Interesting. This was due for release late last year but was pulled days before release.

This new version as welcome and priceless as it is appears to be very different from what was originally due for release. Disc one featured a chronological sequence whilst disc two featured the entire Full House performance and a couple of other TV shows where they performed a few tracks. I'm sad that the OGWT "Ladytron" already officially released on an OGWT DVD is here yet the brilliant and raw Full House version is not.

Not nitpicking but this released version has chopped out interesting material in favour for several tracks from Manchester 79 - already officially on DVD and several tracks from the French show in 1982, easily found on video and no doubt due for a DVD release in its own right.

So, in some ways this finished product is a bit of a disappointment and wasted opportunity. I'll still purchase it anyway because I love this band and it will be nice to have some of this stuff on DVD at last but its a pity more interesting material was dropped.
