Hi - recently discovered the Till Death 72 and 74 series released at my local HMV by Network. Does anyone know if there are plans to release any more of the material from other seasons - I think from research I've done Network released these seasons back in 2004... Did they not sell well enough?

I know this is a late reply, but anyway . ;D
AIUI Networks licences for BBC material has expired and returned to BBC Worldwide. Any further releases will probabaly come from 2|Entertain. No sign as yet mind you.
I would like to complete the collection too, and indeed the In Sickness and Health episodes.

Has anyone any idea when we might see a release of the 1960s surviving Till Death material? There is enough now to do a 2DVD set. I hope it isn't the usual reluctance to release monochrome material - it can't be the humour as In Sickness & In Health has made it out.

Unfortunately, B&W stuff has a fairly limited commercial audience, and seems to frighten 2entertain into deliberately overlooking some very obvious potential releases.

I agree the appeal of monochrome is limited to some but something like Till Death is up there with Steptoe; Hancock; etc

Indeed it is, but 2entertain solely looks at the potential number of units sold, and unfortunately quality doesn't guarantee lively sales figures.

Network would be a better bet though, as they frequently release b/w stuff.

Yes that's true. Unfortunately they're currently tied up with their Granada Ventures deal. Perhaps sometime in the future Network will look towards the BBC archive again, as it's certainly not being commercially exploited right now.

Judging by some of the very limited appeal stuff Network puts out (which means of course it must be extremely cheap to make it available) 2Entertain could surely make something out of Till Death; Z Cars; etc even if it was simply as "vanilla" releases?

They 'could', but won't, as releasing this kind of material just isn't part of their agenda right now. Perhaps, instead of continually moaning on these boards at the lack of any releases, people should instead contact 2|entertain directly. If enough contacted them regarding a particular series, it's quite possible they might actually respond to the demand...

Fans moan and moan but not to the people who can do something about it. To return to the DVD releases did anyone know why the American Till Death DVDs had different title sequences on some episodes to the ones from Network? The American discs had a tinted b&w sequence on some episodes. Network also had redubbed end music on some episodes because you can hear the crying baby at the start showing which episode they copied it from. I'd also like to learn where the VHS 1974 episode came from because I heard it was Australia like the It Ain't Half Hot Mum recordings. Would that mean the episode still existed overseas in the 1980s?
