Hi! I'm new around here...

I'd like to see more of the BBC Classic Serials.
I'm desperately trying to find 'The Talisman' (1980-81) and 'The Prisoner of Zenda' (1984) - if anyone can help, I'd be delighted!

Also some of the wonderful one-offs:
'Aubrey' (BBC 2 Playhouse, 1982)
The ballet 'Cruel Garden' (1982)
'Morte d'Arthur' (1984)

Hi Dave - there were some colour THAMES episodes shown on cable over a decade back now.

These seemed to commence with the 1970 colour series. I recall in 1975 - 76 Thames did a retrospect for the 25 years anniversary and showed some 'Never mind the..' clips which I recall were VT but as we had B+W not clear if these were the earlier - 1968 ? series.

My own comment on what I'd like to see on DVD.

Well I think there are some nice collectable items like the EV compilation (1970) which would make nice extras say on a special release of Thames' Kenny Everett shows. That would be a good seller as those who liked and recalled the THAMES stuff would be catered for and the earlier Everett fans such as myself.

Would be nice for NETWORK to consider releasing a compilation of various Granada POP SHOW oddments such as the surviving LIFT OFF; maybe some 'SHANGALANG' and 'GET IT TOGETHER' as a collective set.

I'd like to see the BFI resume their releases but do some of the REDIFFUSION items such as ORLANDO and SEXTON BLAKE.

Yes I know specialist audience; rights etc. but those barriers haven't stopped NETWORK for example ploughing through with some higly innovative specialist releases; 'SPINDOE' for example. Not the most popular or famous title but an absolutely great piece of 60s TV in pristine copies highly deserved of its release.

Now - ABC oddments - what a great idea! Also much welcomed would be the PATHFINDERS (62) series; and surviving LION THE WITCH AND WARDROBE (also ABC oddments).

I know it's not as commercial but I know many would welcome a selection over the years 1957 - 67 of the various ABC entries to 'ARMCHAIR THEATRE'. It's the sort of thing that would sit well on a BFI sales shelf.

Yes; I think the ones with incomplete soundtracks could be featured as extras with a special soundtrack you could switch in; in a documentary style explaining why the sound was missing and introducing the acts where sound was missing.

Apparently two of the 1971 ones (one with the Four seasons - Feb ? 1971; and the Dec 71 with Congregation); have the sound missing on the performances rather than the intros. I always thought it wouldn't be that hard to synchronise and overdub the actual records to these. I've experimented with this myself at home using very primitive methods so surely hi tech equipment must be able to achieve it.

The one I did was to redub segments of the Keith West 'Teenage Opera' promo by taking the sound feed to a cassette recorder then reversing the inputs and outputs to redub. The synch point was marked by releasing the 'pause' button when vision kicked in using black edited on the opening as the start point.

You probably know the one which was frustratingly released on ROCK AND ROLL THE GREATEST YEARS 1967 (in 1988); but with the sound behind the vision!

I'm longing for Armchair Thriller to make an appearance sometime soon. It's ridiculous to think we have to wait 30 years at least (40? 50?) for a tv series to be released in any way, shape or form. Half a lifetime (well, if you're particularly unfortunate).

I agree I'd like to see items like the stock car racing from Crystal Palace on 'GRANDSTAND'.

Independent agents do release such compilations usually from cinema sources.

Personally I think it would be nice to see such items in their broadcast context with other sports feature; ideally a compilation of GRANDSTAND editions from the 60s and 70s.

I would think 2 entertain and the BBC might find that kind of idea more interesting when a GRANDSTAND anniversary comes up; they did one on BBC news; so its feasible.

Just to add - the onscreen date of the clip I recall being shown from Crystal Palace was 1971. It was a good quality OB on B+W T - R.

i would like to see murphys mob released onto dvd.
i used to enjoy watching it during its initial run back in the 80s.
i used to have a audio tape recording of one episode which i sadly lost some years ago.
im sure mm must still exist in the thames tv archive vaults?
another i would like released is albion market.
it ran for 100 episodes then was swiftly removed from our screens never to be seen again : (
again i used to record episodes onto audio tape but my sisters would pinch them whilst i was out which wound me up something rotten.
and last on my list is moody and pegg 1974-1975...that has never been seen on tv since it ended.
isnt time it was re-released?
and whilst i'm at it...how about releasing the best of aquarius and stars on sunday?
highly unlikely but i would buy them if they were!

Good idea; but I'd like to see complete editions - or as near as possible; as with GRANDSTAND of that.

The RESULTS section with the teleprinter after the wrestling. I used to think 'whats that thing hovering at the bottom of the screen?'
