Have watched this DVD twice through. Excellent quality indeed, though there doesn't appear to be any Easter Eggs.
Theres a nice 10 minute doc on Arnold Ridley featuring clips from the stage show and a 1976 interview with him.
The black and white episode has been vidfired and it looks absolutely brilliant. BAZ

The Missing Episodes entry for Dad's Army is a little confusing. For Season 3, it says: So is The Cornish Floral Dance missing or not? The BBC Treasure Hunt site only mentions the three missing Season 2 episodes and the Season 3 DVD blurb labels itself as the "complete collection of the third series of episodes (in colour)". The main site also lists "25.12.68 Christmas Night With The Stars" as missing.

The 1970 Christmas Night With the Stars insert does only exist as a sound recording - and the 1968 insert doesn't exist at all (as far as we know).

yes, which is why they are called 'inserts'. Therefore, to be 'inserted' into a longer programme. Make sense??

I didn't understand what they were, but, reading through the thread again, I would assume they were shorts made as part of Christmas With the Stars. I assume "Christmas" is a series rather than, as I thought, the title of a Dad's Army episode, which is were I went wrong!

I was just wondering whether near the end of "The Bullet Is Not For Firing" after Mainwaring says "Fire!" and the screen goes all wobbly whether that is just my copy, or if the master tape is like that?

"Christmas Night With the Stars" was a series of programmes that went out most years between1958 and 1972, where a current star of BBC light entertainment would host a series of specially made sketches or mini-episodes of current comedy and variety shows (early ones included the police drama "Dixon of Dock Green" which was made by the light entertainment department!). Only three of the complete shows exist - the first and last, plus the 1964 show - and a few of the inserts.
