A couple of sources say that the tape of Oasis' first BBC radio session on Radio 5's 'Hit The North', recorded at BBC Radio Manchester, has been lost. An unofficial Oasis book written by Lee Henshaw, published by Parragon in 1996, and this Mark Radcliffe fansite, both claim that the session was recorded in July 1992 and that the master tape has been "lost" by the BBC. However, other sources (especially in Oasis bootleg collector circles) claim that the session was in fact recorded in September (17th?) 1993. The tracklisting is also subject to question. To my knowledge, an off-air recording doesn't exist in general Oasis bootleg collector circles, but a few websites state that 'Bring It On Down', 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' and 'Digsy's Dinner' were performed. However, this goes against other comments saying that 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' and 'I Will Believe' were performed. So I'm wondering if anyone could help me with a) the status of the master tape and b) the recording date and session details. Any help answering this will be gratefully received. The public prototype of INFAX only shows 8 'Hit The North' programmes out of the 3 years it was on the air for. Thanks.
