Awhile ago it was mooted to get Leslie Philips to re-record Cornish Exercise - if the script still exists. He might be willing - who knows? Anyone have contacts with his Agent?

Hello Stephen, I think Leslie is rather too poorly now and would find the whole thing problematic. I recall that when they got Ian Carmichael to finally record Gaudy Night to complete the Wimsey canon his voice and attitude to the 2005 project made the result less infectious to the ear and enjoyment compared to those halcyon productions in the 70s.
A moment of optimism though....and keep your fingers crossed, the script has been with James Hurn and accompanying actors since Spring 202.) They are putting an evenings performance together featuring three episodes of the show. 'The Navy Lark' is hoping to be back on the road again next year (virus permitting) and its possible they might help us out with a recording.
This is not definite. But I have asked! It will be the Dennis Price version of Number One - which, for me, added real sparkle to the Pertwee V officers situation. No Christmas lights here, Pertwee's pinched the bulbs again.... Fred

Thank you Fred. OK - if the script of no. 80 "The Cornish Exercise" is extant and folks that can use it have it (or a copy) then we just need to be patient!!! Meanwhile there is ep 9 of the TV Lark "The Top Secret Rocket Trials." Is the script of that extant? BTW there's a new layout for the definitive listing of episodes here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Navy_Lark_episodes====

Bung Ho Stephen, Handsome new listing. I have been trying to get a complete data rich listing together since 2007 - always "tomorrow". Maybe Written Records at Caversham holds the script for TV Lark 9. Fiona Scott Johnston has found bits and pieces recently about her Dad's BBC days after clearing a few rooms in her Dad's old house, but she can't get into the loft.... So, buy the house and see what comes free! Its called Dumbledore and might well have influenced someone's thinking - who knows? Fred

The scripts to The Cornish Exercise and TV Lark 9 were both included in the relevant BBC Audio box sets (series 4 and 5, respectively). They look like they've come off a microfiche rather than paper copies, but are still perfectly readable. Stuart

Maybe Fred or someone with the contacts can persuade the Navy Lark / Dad's Army Show guys to recreate these. Then we'll have a complete set of both!!!!!
