Out of the discs that Duncan's dad had, four 4th series shows were recovered:
Western Story The Toothpaste Expedition The Kippered Herring Gang (Later remade) and The Banishing Room
There were other shows, but these duplicated 5th series ones that we had in better quality.

Thanks for that! (I was beginning to think it was a state secret...) That makes it something like 14 episodes now, IIRC.
"Vanishing Room" rather than "Banishing", isn't it? Although I like the idea of a Banishing Room. Perhaps it could be a new reality TV show. Send your detested workmates to the Banishing Room and never heard from them again!

I haven't looked at this thread before, but I'm surprised at the report that the BBC rejected an offer of Goon Shows - can anyone tell me to whom exactly this approach was made?

Yeh its the same old story the beeb not wanting them back!!
I remember putting Ted kendall onto this lead in the mid 90's i think. from a doctor who newsgroup. I was the guy that started the converstion about lost goon shows and this guy said he may have some.. and hell he did!!!

The approach was made to Simon Rooks and Paul Fiander at a meeting with both of them at TV centre. I also offered a number of other shows at the time, and have virtually heard nothing from them since (one or two emails and a lot of leaving messages on ansafones, never to be called!)
