I know no recording of Orwell himself exists - what I'm interested in are radio adaptations of his material. can anyone provide any information about which of his novels have been broadcast and when? And, of course, whether any are likely to exist in the archives.

Radio Four has run a reading by Bill Nighy of Animal Farm this week 23rd to 27th June.
The only other adaptation I know about is of 1984 with Patrick Troughton & Sylvia Syms. A ninety minute version of which was on 11th October 1965 in the Home Service.
P.S. It's great to have a missing radio thread although the depressing answer is that so much more of it has vanished than should have.

I had heard of this one, but I'd never known the TX date, so thanks for that.
I'll be amazed if there aren't a least a few others - his books seem amazingly adaptable to me.

Yes, though at least there's a greater chance of material turning up from off-air recordings than for television.
