As far as I knew, one of the´66 shows is complete (there were two screened on consecutive weeks). It contains The Yardbirds, The Beatles / Stones collecting their awards (although not the performances) and others. It´s news to me if it´s not complete, although hardly a surprise.

I heard a rumour the American director of The Kids Are Alright "liberated" the other part that has the Who.

Can anyone confirm / disprove this rumour? Is the surviving ´66 edition complete?

Laurence i believe the first half of this concert from 30th April 66 is missing... only the 2nd half survives.
It is often said that the 64 poll concert is complete - this is inaccurate. The first show of two broadcast by ABC is shorter by some 15-20 minutes with Cliff and Shadows closing set of 6 songs strangely missing. The Beatles closed the 2nd broadcast show of course which focused on the Merseybeat groups.

Can anyone confirm / disprove this rumour? Is the surviving ´66 edition complete? I haven't heard this rumour before reading it here, however the new documentary does include some rare on-stage material of The Who at the Empire Pool from 1965 which might have set the rumours off! There included shots are from 'The Glad Rag Ball' which was an ATV broadcast. I'm not sure if any other material exists from the show but it would be good to see a full programme as I think Donovan was another performer.

A quick check over at the BFI database gives us this shotlist for The Glad Rag Ball and the good news is that Donovan is there.....
Jimmy Tarbuck introduced the cabaret from the London Students Carnival held at the Empire Pool, Wembley. This is production material divided into three sections with black inbetween. 1. Big band playing, young people milling about (many dressed up) (10.00). 2. Fashion show on stage (14.17) 3. Audience shots (18.36) Jimmy Tarbuck introducing cabaret (21.00) Lionel Blair and his dancers (21.44) Donovan sings `Bert's Blues' (26.30) and 'Daddy You've Been On My Mind" (30.22) The Who sings `My Generation' (32.59) Interview with Suzy Kendall, later joined by Dudley Moore (38.15) The Three Bells sing `The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)' and `Cry Me A River' (40.41) Frankie Vaughan sings `Long Time No See' (46.03), `You Darling You'?' (48.22) and `I've Been away Too Long'(?) (50.42) Frankie Vaughan and Jimmy Tarbuck in a duet `Show Me The Way To Go Home' (53.38) Frankie Vaughan sings `Hello Dolly' (55.53).

Strange, but it seems only half of the 66 show exists. I have the 1964 and 1965 shows complete, but only half of the 66 show. I was hoping one day, it would turn up.
