The Ronnie Lane TOTP clip was featured on his documentary (BBC4 Jan 2006 & BBC2 Oct 2006) with an extensive DLT intro omitted on the bootlegs, notably the picture quality and colours were amazing and far superior to the 5+ Generation ones we have access to - and obviously taken from the original off-air recording, as it started with a 'just pressed record on the video' picture jump! All of these missing clips '74 clips inc. TOTP 5:15, Hendrix, Queen - Seas of Rye both performances, Mud, Hot Chocolate, Disco perf etc were available for a while off Ebay three years ago before they got hot on bootleg DVD's, as 'Ultra Rare Wiped TOTP' on a 4 DVD set (which i bought mine from & identical to the clips popping up now) Ones that haven't popped up on BoobTube yet (off the top of my head whilst at work...) from that DVD set are Studio performances from; Paper Lace - Black Eyed Boys, 10CC - Silly Love, Wombles - Wombling Song, Isley Brothers - Summer Breeze (Pans People). Also Promo films for Carpenters - Jambalya & Charlie Rich - Most Beautiful Girl In The World (shame it wasn't the Pans People performance they did to it). Not forgetting the strangely brilliant crowd dance to Ringo Starr - You're Sixteen. These off air '74 TOTP clips are from various episodes not just 31/01/74, so frustrating the first generation off-air tapes can't be sourced & cleaned up! However seeing the Ronnie Lane clip in broadcastable quality suggests that the researchers for the documentary located a superior copy & that some of the other clips may be on there in colour and with DJ links. I doubt if all of those clips were from the same source tape, but the 3 month period they are from and the scarcity of video-recorders in 1974 possibly mean they could be - who knows. Whilst i've got the verbal runs & talking bout the Glam era, If someone still has the Andy Scott sourced off-air of the Sweet - Sixteens on 'Lift-Off' which has the Ayshea intro can they upload it somewhere?! There is one uploaded but has been doctored a bit. Cheers, Bongo.

Cheers, Bongo. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkzCXQn7KysI have both versions, the above being the best as it's colour (without the Ayshea intro) The other version is completely B&W

I'm sure that back in the day when Lulu performed MWSTW on TOTP, David Bowie was somewhere at the back in the shadows doing or miming his backing vocals. Sure I remember seeing him on that performance. That's my recollection anyway.

Note to the moderators, this is not a request to trade. It is an inquiry anout the current availability of missing material which has been previously available. The fact that the DVD is a bootleg should be irrelevant; it is not breaking the law to talk about bootlegs, nor unless UK law has changed since the eighties is it actually illegal to buy one, just to sell it. This is also not the same situation as requesting T Rex material for example which is missing from the BBC archives but available to buy on an officially released DVD. In fact, I would say that the best chance of any further missing TOTP being retrieved is through bootlegs.

This one has popped up in quality similar to the off-air Ronnie Laine clip of Pans People/Love Unlimited Orchestra in colour www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFBfj6xZDCwCan someone check if they are from the same episode? If so chances are most or either the whole show exist in great quality colour. The same poster has listed some extraordinary stuff in the past from TOTP (no intention of emailing the user as pretty sure they have been by everyone else!) It could either be a VT exerpt or the clean off-air copy, i think the latter but confirmation from someone with the episode listing should help

Hello,
This poster has been contacted many times in the past about the vids, so many that he has become rather annoyed at them so he pulled all his posted vids and disappeared for a good while. I had attempted to gain more information on the source and quantity of Top Of The Pops material, as he knows it is rare material, and am rather surprised he has posted this. I think if everyone stands back so to speak from this chap, that he will show us some more rare Top Of The Pops clips on youtube.
I agree further info on the source of the Pans People clip would be much appreciated. I had thought it existed in full in the BBC on VT, but may be wrong on that.
Lance.
