The following show, 22/11/73 is listed on the BFI website : "The programme opens to Mott The Hoople's `Roll Away The Stone', and then the programme proper starts with Mud singing `Dynamite', then: Donny Osmond's `When I Fall In Love', Barry Blue's `Do You Wanna Dance', Pan's People dance to Eddie Kendrick's `Keep On Truckin', Alvin Stardust's `My Coo Ca Choo', The New Seeker'S `You Won't Find Another Fool Like Me', Roxy Music's `Street Life', Cliff Richard's `Take Me High', and straight in at No 1 Gary Glitter's `I Love You Love Me Love'. Play out with audience dancing and credits to Wings `Hell on wheels'. " ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/642081?view=synopsisWhat are the chances of it existing do you reckon? And yes I do know that the Wings song is called "Helen Wheels" ;D

Isn't there an edition from around this time surviving (don't have the list to hand)? Definitely there are clips of the Mott, Mud and Alvin and Glitter performing those songs. If not this edition then one around that time. If not, then maybe another whole edition has been rediscovered!

Indeed, the show from the week before dated 15th November 1973 hosted by Tony Blackburn exists complete at the BBC and features Alvin Stardust, Gary Glitter, Mud and Mott The Hoople. Barry Blues' record was also featured but sadly as a dance leaving us with no Barry Blue TOTP performances. Instead of Donny, we get promos from The Osmonds and Marie Osmond, and the "Helen Wheels" promo was shown as well.
CORRECTION : Mud were NOT on this show. Apologies for the cock up!

That's true, Steve Hopefully 22/11/73 is out there somewhere though as I'd love to see the performance of "Street Life".

I didn't say that Roxy Music were on the 15-11-1973 edition. I got my info from here... homepage.ntlworld.com/e.watkins/musictv/interest3.htmApologies for the wrong info about Mud. Haven't a clue why I said that! Must have been dyslexic this morning! I too hope any Roxy Music performances from 1973 exist... I'm more intrigued by "Pjamarama" though any clip would be very welcome!

I knew it was from around then but just got the week wrong (didn't have the listing to hand with me). Thanks. I'd also like to see the Roxy appearance for Street Life again as I remember it from the time. The song left an impression on me.

Looks like this show may well exist!
Popscene forum member Gary H received this reply from the BFI (hey, that rhymes!) :
"Dear Gary
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I have been following a paper trail regarding the Top of the Pops and, as you point out, how we would have a detailed synopsis without having the programme.
The good news is that we do appear to have a print of this Top of The Pops. We hold a separate print (negative) and soundtrack and will hope to transfer this in the near future. This was viewed yesterday and it is as described on the PasB record and the Top 30 chart. We have notified the BBC.
It turned out to be an error in our records; the film was viewed when acquired and notes taken as to the content but the transmission date was not attached to the print's details.
Thank you for drawing this to our attention.
Kind regards
Kathleen"

That's great news Neil. Hopefully the BBC will make this and other 'unshown' totp available sometime in the future so we can all enjoy them, and not lock this one away like all the others that have been recovered over the last few years never to be seen again.
