Yes, most definitely "Beat Beat Beat". I have this from a batch of compilations VH1 showed 10 years ago. They also showed some of The Monks footage which is mad, and the whole Manfred Mann set which is a strange one since its live and "Semi Detached Surburban" sounds really weird without the mellotron. Great show and interesting archive.

It was one of the better shows I always found Beat Clubs camera set up very unimaginative

I too liked the camera angles, and effects used. Although I am always a fan of the vintage Top Of The Pops special visual effects that were used on these early clips. Some were good, while others were way too distracting, could not see the performers at times. Such as in the case of the Alice Cooper- Schools Out (1972, TOTP), The Sweet- Teenage Rampage(1974, TOTP), and many more. Seems like the early 1970's were the heyday for these visual effects. Nice to be able to see them still though on you-tube, thank goodness for that.
Lance.

BBB always had good multiple camera set ups and involved the audience in a way that most shows didn't(I think thats one reason the new TOTPs failed) am i right in thinking that BBB was based on totp?

Beat Club and Beat Beat Beat are two different shows. Both German but not connected; they featured a similar range of acts but BBB was largely live performances.

They look like they haven't been restored in any way; i'm sure they could look a lot better than they do with a bit of work. Strange they haven't been cleaned up at all, bearing in mind the original VTs (rather than t/rs) survive. They must know the material is popular (and therefore worth taking care of) as clips are used so frequently where no other footage of something exists and editions frequently aired on satellite.

Bluesbrother.
That's a still from Top of the Pops.
They performed, minus Pete quaife who had been injuired in a road accident, on a Whole Scene Going.
They mimed to sunny Afternoon.
This clip exists.

If it's the clip minus Pete Quaife then it's from A Whole Scene Going (they also make a reference to Pete being missing afterwards). The TOTP clip of the song (which is missing officially although circulating in poor quality) has John Dalton standing in for Pete (he joined them briefly in '66 before re-joining full time in '69). Which version is the above (you only see a partial shot of the band so I couldn't tell conclusively)?

Thanks for clarifying, Peter! I hadn't looked at those clips in a long time to identify at a glance (they're similar in look apart from the fact that WSG has a three-man line-up, of course).
