Do anyone know if any showings of the BBC or ITV's coverage of the 1966 World Cup exist? I've see some clips of the BBC's matches involving England (including the full match of the final) and also Brazil v Portugal, Italy v North Korea and Portugal v North Korea. The only ITV match I've seen was the final and are there any full programmes of the final on both channels (example, BBC Grandstand's programme)

I'm only speculating here, but I would imagine that pretty much all of the World Cup coverage would exist.
The final definitely exists, as it was released on BBC video and also ITV repeated their version of it back in September 1987.
Remember these matches were shown all around the world - so I'm sure the actual matches exist in full somewhere!
As for specific British coverage, well I've seen various clips - North Korea v Italy, Hungary v Brazil etc on various BBC programmes and/or videos. Whether the studio stuff survives I'm not sure, I've never seen any that I can recall. But its not the sort of material that gets repeated. Studio footage from Match Of The Day for example never gets shown on tv, and yet bits were used for the 25 Years Of Match Of The Day videos a few years back. So who knows WHAT is sitting in the BBC sports vaults!

How about the 1954 world cup final? There are just excerpts (20min or so) surviving.

I'm sure the World Cup footage does exist. I've got a match from the 1966 series: img17.photobucket.com/albums/v50/stevejones/footie_001.jpgSadly, I've never seen them repeat these with the proper BBC/ITV Eurovision opening logo and music. A guy was recently travelling round the local antique fairs with a stall crammed with old t/rs of football matches. I never jumped at these largely because I'm certain many exist in one form or another.

Isn't that a slightly cut-down edited version? At least on the original vhs release, sections of the match were from film recording. I haven't seen the DVD. Anyhow, I'm sure there must be other 625 line sources for these bits given it was shown via Eurovision.

One of the 1966 Portugal matches was repeated as part of the BBC's extended 2002 World Cup coverage. Had BBC commentary and looked like it was from VT, only watched part of it so I don't know any more.
