My previous postings on TOTP audios haven't made this thread so I'll recap and update. A friend told me probably 10 years back now about a recording believed to be an audio of a complete show from 1966. The only other details he could give were that it featured Jimmy saville as DJ. A member or friend of her family recorded it off air, presumably on reel to reel. The tape had been recently stashed with clutter in her garden shed. I advised that weather conditions would lead to deterioration of the tape and that he should look into retrieving it as soon as possible. Nothing further heard! The other audios I know of are in the form of a couple of reel to reels I came across at boot sales; plus some cassette transfer copies which exist from an original reel to reel from which a friends Uncle had. The reel to reels; reel 1 contains shows from 1964; reel 2 mainly 1967. These are truncated as the compiler actually seemed intent on taping the records off the TV to save money buying the actual records. Rather than indexed as TOTP they're listed as 'pop selection'. Due to the limits regarding electronic (cable) transfers in 1964; and the relatively clean quality; I suspect the editing was done by placing the machine on pause when the DJ came back on, rather than being copied from another reel of complete shows. Reel to reel 2 definitely included Pink Floyd 'See emily play'; Jimi hendrix 'Purple haze' and 'Wind cries Mary'; Harry Secombe 'if I ruled the world' and Move 'Flowers in the rain'. Hi John, I'm very much interested in a copy of the See Emily Play audio. I promise to make it worth your trouble. I can be reached at syd100@cox.net. Cheers, Chris
