The legendary Bowie performance of "Starman" is still alive and well, but do any of the other performances still linger from this Blackburn presented show???

Hi Chris. The only other performance which exists from the 6/7/72 is the Sweet's "Little Willy" which was shown on the German TV show 'Disco'. I remember seeing this repeated on a satellite channel in the early '90s.

Neil, isn't the TOTP "Little Willy" performance used in 'Disco' sourced from the same edition as the TOTP performance of T.Rex performing "Metal Guru" (as also used for 'Disco') which is the 8/6/72?

You could be right there, Keith. I just remembered catching a glimpse of Tony Blackburn at the end of the performance.

I was always under the impression that both the "Little Willy" & "Metal Guru" performances that we have were sourced from the same 8/6/72 edition. Both 8/6/72 & 6/7/72 editions were hosted by Tony Blackburn, so i can see why you thought "Little Willy" was from the latter.

"Little Willy" was a hit in early Autumn 72, so without checking the bbc site database I'd guess it may have appreared on the July show as a new/forthcoming release

Yeah, I realised after I had posted I was wrong, I was thinking of Wig Wam Bam which I know was on a 1972 Pick of the Pops I recorded in September 89.

Even though the TOTP database seems to be confused as to wether The Sweet were either 'The Sweet' or just 'Sweet' just to clear up the "Little Willy"/"Wig Wam Bam" TOTP performances they are.... "Little Willy" 8/6/72 15/6/72 (Disc) 22/6/72 (Disc) 6/7/72 For "Wig Wam Bam" 14/9/72 (The surviving 'Disco' performance) 21/9/72 5/10/72 I hope that clears it all up.

just a bit OT but if you type in just "Sweet" in the name search you should get both variations, back to the thread.
