TOTP2 really should have been an extention of sounds of the 60 & 70 really...... little clips weaved with full intro's and outros from Old TOTP and complete old titles, bring it back with a nostalgic feel, original TOTP titles which change every week and an excuse forget the belief of the here and now, escapism, until you seee the MMVI at the end !!!!!! and no on screen waffle and no chirping DJ either, unless hes at the beginning aying who's on for 30 seconds (and not over the opening titles) and a place to play the stuff that you regard as unwatchable due to tape faults, we really do not mind, we undertand. let us be that judge. BBC if your reading, this series would be the most welcome and valued thing that you've done for years. for shows that a DJ doent want his performance in, a nice re-edit will suffice !!!!!!
and a RARE archive playout

I think we can blame Maggie for loads of things in her time in office, but not the wiping of old TOTP tapes or anything else for that matter. I believe a lot of old sixties/early seventies TOTP`s were wiped within 3 months of transmission, with just a few #1 performances kept back for inclusion in Xmas editons, were the artists concerned may not have been around at that time of year for various reasons, but as we`ve all later learned, even most of the Xmas editons up to 1973 have been wiped off the face of the earth.

A NEW campaign WILL be launched this coming week to get a new ARCHIVE TYPE Programme made, either BBC or ITV/ Chan 4 using BRITISH TV CLIPS no stupid captions no talking over etc etc Whichever TV company wants to make it will be able to use ALL BRITISH TV's ARCHIVES I envisage it to be a bit like N3's (German TV) Oldie Paraden. Keep an eye on my TOTP Blog at gaztotp.blogspot.com/Gary Slade On TOTP Take me bak ome 1972

What puzzled me was if they couldn't keep complete editions for whatever reason, certainly as regards the 60's B&W shows, why they didn't go through the tapes & just keep one selected performance of each song on a separate compilation tape, which was done unofficially, because that's how come certain clips survive.
I guess you could've done something similar with the colour shows.
I suppose the argument now will be 'Which performance best represents a particular song? Is it the performance on show X or the performance on show Y, which is the best to keep for the archive?
