Well it's not your god given right to broadcast it in any form, even if it is 'just' for others to download on the web. How can you stop being a fan just because of that? You can't have been much of a fan if that's all it takes.

Hi Gary! yeah egotistical rock stars are ten a penny. I share your frustration.
I know where there is some cracking Thank Your Lucky Stars footage.
I was on the point of getting it when they realised a certain rock star was on it and realised he'd object so they could not copy the footage.
Hope you have calmed down a bit!

No Frustration about it, Youtube has rules , one is that you are not allowed to upload copyrighted material, if the copyright holder complaines then you have to take it down, Slade didnt ask you to infringe there copyright, and its not your right to upload material that you do not have permission to. If you recally even Quo do not allow people to upload bootlegs etc without express permission.

Blockbuster (ru a Sweet fan) I didn't put up vids to download I put them up to show fans (of all bands) what is out there, I had filmed and produced a new Slade Documentry at the recent fan convention and approached Noddy Holder for 3rd party permission to use some BBC footage and more importantly the Earls Court footage from 1973 ftvdb.sigmer.net/show/summary/title/444791/Their management informed the BBC of the youtube stuff (bear in mind most of this footage is officially missing) I and many others have been treated like this for years by them. I had supported the band and bought their records from 1970 even when nobody wanted to know the band in 77-78-79 so in your opinion I'm wasn't much of a fan. If these profit seeking old popstars were to treat their fans with the respect they deserve everybody would be happy. They can only see £ signs but seem to forget without their fans they couldn't have made the big time and that goes for every band. see here garybrum.blogspot.com/Status Quo respect the people who made them and that's why they are still here and long may they keep on rockin'

But like you said if its the bands management, then you can hardly blame the band for there managers protecting their artists future income.
And if Quo were son into giving their fans what they want why was the quality of the SQ40 DVD so bad, especally the wembly footage, where as say Madrid 75 would be 1000 times better.
actually the wholw of that DVD is very poor value IMO
