Thanks for the offer Brian. One of my neighbours reckoned his brother had got one and that I could borrow it but haven't heard anything as yet. I'll give it another few weeks, if not might take you up on your kind offer. Where are you based?

I would guess that about 80% of lost 1964 to 1977 totp performances are out there on R2R, audio cassette, or even early video, and probably a lot are still to be found by the owner or reletive of the owner (who may now be deceased). I think these gems will keep turning up especially when lofts are cleared out, again possibly due to a dead reletive or a housemove.

I have audio of Rod Stewart performing "You Wear It Well" on the Xmas Day 1972 edition. The vocals are live.

I think that totps is the most likely program to turn up on video, it' certainly the most common tv program to turn up on audio tape

Courtesy of my brother-in -law, i have 25/2/71 & 4/3/71 on audio reel to reel, with full DJ links... Is this for sure, the 25th February 1971 episode? This is interesting as you all probably know that the archive master of that edition has mute links. If the recording is of sufficient quality (direct feed or microphone?) this could possibly be used to patch-up the episode. Please contact me via email at the BBC. Usual organisation format. i.e. forename.surname at etc. thanks Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, when i first got this edition 3 months ago it seemed like the full edition minus the first part as it kicks in at the beginning of Ray Stevens "Can We Get To That?" and seemed to be the full edition with all Jimmy Saville`s links intact, but on further investigation, like checking the Database, Atomic Rooster`s "Tomorrow Night" is missing from the recording and as the rest of the edition seems to flow to order, i would guess that my Brother-in-Law missed out the first few minutes, ie: the chart rundown and the first song at the time. As with the 4/3/71 edition having "Up Pompeii" by Frankie Howard missing would seem to indicate a degree of editing at the time, that 35 years on, my brother-in-Law just can`t remember. I still have the r2r tapes and are hoping in the near future to transfer to cassette so Neil & Pete from my regular site can have copies as well as keeping one for myself. Sorry for implying it was 100% intact when in theory it is only 95% intact.

Even though the database lists Atomic Rooster for that edition their performance is not on the master recording for that show anyway - don't know why. All bar the first couple of links is better than nothing, but it's up to you. We can of course handle 1/4" reel to reel tape.
cheers
Jonathan

Hi, Pete...I've not been in touch for a while. Does the 29/8/74 clip you have include Showaddywaddy performing "Rock 'n' Roll Lady"? This is one I'm trying to get hold of. Best Regards, Chris from Lincoln
