Anyone remember this one Made by Granada,I believe. Another Muriel Young show with a puppet called Ollie(who was an owl). Presenter Aesha Bough was also a cast member of Gerry Andersons UFO. You see her in the opening credits giving Ed Bishop a piece of paper. She is sat down, turns and gives him a piece of paper with a smile. Anyway, very good looking woman. Anyone know if this show still exists and in particular, how would I go about finding out if one edition of the show, with a performance by Marc Bolan and T-Rex still exists. November 1973 song was Truck On (tyke). Over to you guys. RALPH.

Not very good news about this one I'm affraid. It's been mentioned in a few previous threads and it appears that there's only a couple of episodes left - 15 October 1974 and 17 December 1974 Neither of these have any Bolan content - information from www.ITNarchive.com. The title is Lift of With Ayshea by the way, there's another programme logged against the title from the late sixties but that appears to be a Christmas special of something called 'At Last It's Friday' with Kenny Lynch and Freddie Garrity! So this post isn't all bad news you can console yourself with the knowledge that Ayshea Brough exists in another couple of surviving Granada programmes on the ITN database - 'The Charlie Williams' show from 22 Dec 72 and something called 'Christmas Eve at the Golden Garter' from 24 Dec 70. Although to be fair Charlie Williams is no Marc Bolan...... Phil

Nice one PL and everyone else that posted.
New here,so had no idea it had been discussed before.
Shame about the remaining editions of the show.
I would have thought Marc would have appeard in the shows previous season. Truck On being released in November 1973.
I remember the performance in my minds eye. You see,I am a big T-Rex fan(you,d never have guessed) and I made sure I watched everything that Marc was on. I can tell you what he wore and all about the performance.
Anyone know what Ayesha went and did after this show?
RALPH.

Don't know what she's done for the last 30 years, or even if she's still alive, but she is, of course, the daughter of 50s(40s?) radio icon Peter Brough of "Educating Archie" fame, the man who brought ventriloquism to the radio .... a skill I believe even I could manage! I used to have an audio recording of Ayshea singing "Morningtown Ride" from Lift Off, but sadly this is no more.

I seem to recall them with presenter Sheila Kennedy. Apparently they were revived in 'get it together' a Granada follow up, which to my knowledge all exists. It does seem ironic that the Granada Muriel Young pop shows (bar 'Marc') that survive, generally hail from a more disappointing period of pop music.

They both appeared in Rediffusion links between children's programmes, particularly Small Time and The Musical Box. Usually with Wally Whyton or Muriel Young. They also made appearances on Five O Clock Club (i'd love to see an episode of this again!) Later on they re-appeared in Lift Off and Get It Together. Sheila Kennedy wouldn't have been involved though as she worked for ABC prior to Thames (not Rediffusion) and the puppets didn't appear in links for Thames, to my knowledge.

Fred the Dog was known as Fred Barker. No relation of the late Ronnie or regular poster Neil! ;D

I think the impression was created by running film clips between the other 'studio' big name bands like Slade and Sweet (who did appear). Presumably the 'truck on tyke' as it was described as such, was in the studio, but on film stock. But I clearly recall they ran the 'Get it on' promo where Bolan is looking up in wide angle lens with his body appearing smaller (on rock and roll greatest years VHS). Also the promo for 'the groover' with Bolan in sunglasses and furs running around pixilated.

Ralph - if you would like to see what Marc wore on Lift Off, click here: www.borntoboogie.net/marctv/pages/dvd1.htm(the photo is on the right of the page) The performance of Truck on Tyke - the only UK TV performance of that song - was recorded at the Granada studios in Manchester but, despite many years of searching, remains lost.

I used to love Lift Off With Ayshea. Bowie and Ronson did a very memorable performance of Starman on there if I recall. No doubt long lost

I'm sure it came up before unless I confused details someone had found and was 'getting a copy' of the 'Truck on Tyke'. I may have mixed that up with a copy of 'Teenage dream' on TOTP. However the latter was not supposed to exist either. I was told that Marc had a house in South London for a while but was always away and all kinds of people were in and out. It's likely they may have accessed what was stored there given who he was. As his family are supposed to have destroyed his home video collection; to me the 'Teenage Dream' clip suggests a duplicate made from his home collection before the destuction got out. So that sets up the possibility of other appearences in similar form; i.e. the LIFT OFF. You never know.
