Hi everyone...does anyone out there have a copy of the original 1985 BBCTV broadcast of Live Aid, that they would be willing to make a copy of?
I ask, simply because my battered VHS copy has finally gone west and died. I am not a trader - simply someone who wishes to restore their archive! The official DVD is okay, but somehow doesn't seem to compare with the atmosphere of the original!!
Also, as someone who attended the Live 8 gig at Hyde Park at the weekend, is anyone aware of any plans to put out an official DVD at some point? - Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was watching some 'Live Aid' documentary the other night which showed the clip of Geldof performing 'I don't like Mondays'. As we all know, at the line 'The lesson today is how to die' Geldof pauses and the crowds cheer.
Now, on the documentary there is a brief shot from behind Geldof looking out into the crowds. This then cuts to a shot of the Goodyear blimp and the stadium before Bob carries on.
Knowing this wasn't right, I dug out my old original 'Live Aid' tapes and saw the shot from behind Geldof was much longer but contained the addition of on screen graphics stating "UK total donated so far £40000"
So I guess the producers of the Live Aid DVD release have had to do a bit of hacking around with the original tapes and edits (a shame as the 'behind Bob' shot was very dramatic)
Can anyone tell me if there has been alot of re-editing done on the DVD release ? I saw that Macca had got his vocals back on 'Let It Be' but did this occur for the Boomtown Rats - Rat Trap ? Was this even featured ??

I do believe that the BBC do hold clean versions (without any on screen bumf) which they recorded at the time

Re : The Geldof 'moment' (when he stuck his fist in the air). There was an interview with Jill Sinclair in Word Magazine (link below on the DVD's official site) just before the official DVD release, where she explained that certain 'dodgy camera angles' and TV blurb had been replaced with alternative camera shots of the crowd. Not sure if 'Rat Trap' is on the DVD - will have to chck the site for full listing... www.liveaiddvd.net/
