Blue Peter buried another time capsule back in June 1998, under the Millennium Dome. It'll be opened in 2050.
Not sure if this is a full list or not, but it contains a Blue Peter badge, a history of the programme, some Teletubby dolls, an insulin pen, and a France '98 football!

I remember wathing Blue Peter a few years back (early to mid 90's) and someone had found a "time capsule" in the wall of a house. Inside were various things and 2 rolls of movie film wrapped in brown paper. Then back in the studio the Blue Peter woman unwrapped one of the rolls of film and pulled out a few feet of film and held it up and looked at it under the hot studio lights. At the end of the show we were told by voiceover that only one of the films survived. I wonder which one? I think the other film was footage of a Royal procession from the turn of the century, or something. I remember this - it was actually the old BBC Lime Grove studios, which were being demolished at the time. The films were laid in the foundations when Grosvenor built them, and one of them was indeed a Royal walkabout.

I would like to know what sort of stuff could survive betetr in a time capsule than other stuff, would it rot, or come out okay, or would it have gone blurry?

It'd have to be in an airtight/watertight container otherwise it'd most likely rot. I've seen what happens to reels of film stored in a garden shed over a few years and it's not nice.

I tried stroing some tape (plain TDK home-made recordings) in my cellar for a while to see how well it would hold up. I never found out as my house burned down after I left the stove on when I went to Clacton for the Bank Holiday weekend.

I bet there may be some "time capsules" on public dumping sites, rubbish dumps etc

Yeah, but those will have deteriorated/disintegrated since then. Even stuff underground overground won't be in A1 shape. That's why the Beeb junked so much because it is very dear to keep prints at an optimum temperature and humidity level.

The other evening I was coming home from the pub, when I decided tot ake a shortcut through the church. I sat down to get my bearings, and started just idly pulling at the grass/ground. This kept on for a while, until I was startled to discover a load of Blue Peter-style time capsules! Unfortunately all they had were skeletons.

I don't get the point of "Blue Peter" time capsules. If it's gonna be dug up 20 years later, all it's doing is damaging the contents. A proper time capsule would be left at least 100 years!
