Scanning through the January 13 1968 issue of New Musical Express, on page 3, Barry Gibb mentions he was recently watching the 'Magical Mystery Tour' TV special, which he had recorded with "this video tape thing" he had in his possession.
Hmmmm... I wonder what else he might have taped?

Echoes "I wonder", has anyone approached the family on this?, obviously it requires delicacy. Perhaps we could try the officail fan club first and see what they know.

Maurice Gibb had one, too. As did all four Beatles.

I wonder if Robin watched MMT?
On the Boxing Day TOTP he says he'll give £10 (I think) to anyone who will explain I am the Walrus to him!
I wonder did they watch and wipe constantly and not preserve much stuff. They would watch a performance on Top of the Pops say if they were out gigging, keep it for a while, then wipe it.
Is it true that a lot of Ringo's stuff was destroyed when his house in Monte Carlo burnt down?
On the Man of the Decade thing with John Lennon we see a scene wher John is watching a film of the Beatles performing at the Cavern.
I believe that the majority of discoveries in the future will be from recataloguing of existing archives and a much smaller amount from pop star's archives.

Is it true that a lot of Ringo's stuff was destroyed when his house in Monte Carlo burnt down? Yes, unfortunately he lost his copies of everything he had. And he had 90% of The Beatles tv performances, including their films for TOTP. I don't think he was in the country at the time, or had someone staying in the house. Just think what might have been saved. Probably best NOT to think about it..........
