John
I know there was an official video of "So Serious" as I remember watching it in a wine bar down in Brighton when it came out in 1986.

I think this was in 1989, at the time of Telstar's release of 'The Very Best Of' (the one with the dark blue cover!), there was a companion video issued, running under an hour.
It wasn't a straight match to the album though !
Haven't got the video to hand though, to go through the listing, & I got rid of the LP ages ago, when new 'Best Of's ' came out on CD !

In terms of the earlier line up (71 -72), I understand quite a bit of stuff exists which hasn't really surfaced. The two examples that have are the 10538 T/R promo, which looks like TOTP but which was filed apparently at the BBC under OGWT. The other was clips of 'Roll over Beethoven' (on todays the day) & 'Showdown' (on TOTP 2) both from TOTP 1973 editions.
Stuff that hasn't surfaced are: a 1972 science fiction film short ELO provide music to (and may appear in) quoted in the booklet of 'ELO first - special edition' CD set. Also '2Gs & the pop people' a Granada pop show and 'set of six' another Granada pop show. The latter was most interesting as it featured other parts of their live set rock & roll medley (great balls of fire), from which 'R over Beethoven' was drawn) and was all numbers including LP stuff, by ELO.

How rare, on the collector's circuit, is the Mike Mansfield Cue The Music series, transmitted on ITV around 1991, on the overnight service in Central land ?
There was a 2 part ELO Part 2 concert transmitted in that series.
Bev Bevan was still there, as was a few other members, but Pete Haycock & Eric Troyer had joined by then(Troyer providing the vocals on the 1991 single 'Honest Men' !)
(I think Jeff Lynne had left by 1986, because the last/only ELO TV appearence I saw at that point, was on an early 'Wogan' in 1985, performing 'So Serious' !)

Gary
I'd like to see "Showdown" any chance of a copy?
By the way I've got that ELO Pt 2 Cue The Music concert somewhere up in the loft at home. I think I've got both parts as it was shown over two Saturdays.

The film produced 1972 featuring the ELO and songs was called 'Freedom city' and is referred to in the notes of the CD 'ELO special edition' box set. The Granada show 'set of six' features five songs, the title therefore meaning the time of day it was shown. The sound is used on the CD, so it seems to exist. The songs were '10538 overture', 'whisper in the night', 'great balls of fire', 'Jeffs Boogie No 2' and 'Queen of the hours'. The ELO were live, which they probably weren't on 'Lift off' & 'Top of the pops'. The Xmas TOTP of 'Roll over Beethoven' ELO back to back with 'California man' with the Move/ELO line ups overlapping ('I'm off to see the WIZZARD' circular stickers on guitars) doesn't exist. Neither does the 'Lift off' stuff apparently, but the '2Gs and the pop people' appearence for 10538 overture does.

Still didn`t help the song though, which stalled just outside the top 75. Jeff finally threw in the towel with ELO later that year.

I knew it was "early" Wogan anyway, but I was a year out !

That April 1986 performance was the first time ELO had performed at BBC TV centre since exactly 10 years previous when they performed "Nightrider" on TOTP. That song also didn`t chart. Shame they never performed at TV centre during their peak years of 1977 to 1982.

For all ELO fans, new DVD release, available in the West end Virgin branches 'INSIDE ELO'. Features a slection of Move and ELO clips. The ELO clips include '2Gs and the pop people' (LWT 1972), 'SET OF SIX' (Granada 1972), and 'EVIL WOMAN' on SUPERSONIC(1975).
Seems to consist of live material probably included in the Fairfield halls Croydon, and Guildford civic centre tour of 1972. One audio bootleg is rumoured to exist. The set would be very interesting as they did Woods 'Dear Elaine' and a version of 'Strawberry fields' I read.
