Hi I have found a load of stuff (and i mean like maybe 100 clips. Now this stuff is in incredible quality....I cant believe how good it looks (and sounds for that matter). Now, i think some of it maybe missing totp - some is definitely not. But amongst the clips is the entire "The Who - The Seeker" from start to finish (more that Steve's Missing Pop Clips site shows). This clip is in amazing quality (easily good enough for broadcast) and I know from Steve's posts on here that it is missing totp. So I am thinking maybe some of the other stuff is missing totp too. Also amongst it is the Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze totp performance, complete and again in pretty good quality (although not as good as the who clip). Much better than Steve has it on his missing pop page though, much much better. - Strangely this is in NTSC format ?? Anyways, how does one go about identifying things as being froma certain program?? Are there dead give-aways to a programs identity. I stress these are discrete individual performances and not full prgrams, so i cant see what the programs are. idk

Ok, I have managed to identify another performance from totp. It is The Kinks - Lola. It may be the existing performance from 18th June, 1970 or it could be the missing one from 26th December 1970........no way of telling really. I may be able to post some pics later.
I identified it, because the set is the same as that in The Who - The Seeker from the same year. Both sets have this massive picture of 2 men as a sort of big poster thing (watch the seeker clip, you'll see it).
I dont think TV shows share sets do they?? Correct me if i am wrong. And actually, if the set is the same as the "the who" clip, then it is probably the 18th June, 1970 performance (the who performed around May 1970 on totp and i guesss the set would have changed between May 1970 and Christmas 1970).
idk

OK, I am pretty sure i now have a TOTP Lulu - Boom-bang-a-bang, but i think it is the existing 27th December 1973 performance as i think you can just glimpse Jimmy Saville before it starts.
It is now 1:50 am and i am knackered, but i will post some pics tomorrow to see if people can identify - expecially does anyone have the 27th dec 1973 show to compare the sets with??
idk

What format are these shows on you have found?

It has it on the TOTP archive thing that she performed on the 1973 show. Thats why I thought it was that one. Plus it was presented by the Saville man and I think you can just glimpse him before the performance. The performances are all on DVD, one of these home made jobs that you make on a stand-alone DVD recorder. Dont know what the source was, but it gotta be good 'cause the clips are amazing in quality. The hendrix clip is ona seperate DVD-r of DVD compliant MPEG2 video clips all running at the highest quality for DVD 9.8MBps and the quality of these are good too. NTSC format for teh hendrix one though idk

You must be right ! as according to the TOTPs DB, no other performance of ' boom bang a bang ' exists. .. unless of course your source has access to one? well done!

TOTP2 did make many gaping errors
to confirm Lulu DID NOT appear on the 27/12/73 show as i have it complete
and besides the set is the same as the xmas day 73 one
and it was from Pop goes the 60s the BBC/ZDF show done for germany
presented by Elfie & Jimmy and TX's on 31/12/69 on BBC1 and ZDF simultaneously

i have all you mention, theyre flying around like wildfire in various qualities I'd be surprised if they were flying around in this kind of quality. I'd imagine they'd be getting passed around in VHS or BETAMAX or something. I am at work at the moment, but will post pics later tonight (maybe 11pm gmt) idk

Thanks Pete! if anyone knows you should .The database must be wrong on that point?
Also the Lulu of 1969 had changed quite considerably by 1973 . I doubt very much if she would have wanted to have been associated with that song to re-record it for the 27/12/73 show?

ok, pics here www.geocities.com/spu98ajc/who.jpgThis who pic is taken before the start of the clip appearing on SteveP's site (so this is a few seconds not seen before). www.geocities.com/spu98ajc/kinks.jpgThis i think is the kinks on TOTP because it has the same set (albeit in colour) as the who clip above. Sorry about the fringing on the pics, but of course the DVD is interlaced and the interlacing appears on the piccys. idk

www.geocities.com/spu98ajc/lulu.jpgLulu performing Boom-bang-a-bang from apparently Pop goes the 60's 31/12/69 (Pete can you confirm that from this pic please). If there are any artifacts on these pics, its because I have had to compress them with jpeg to make them smaller to save bandwidth. Oh and cheers spu98ajc for the webspace. idk
