I've recently come across some more TOTP audio tapes of missing shows (shown missing in the TOTP database). These are complete shows of 21/08/75 (Noel Edmonds), and 10/02/77 (DLT). The audio quality is quite good and clear, with no obvious distortions. Does anyone know if these shows have surfaced before as audio only tapes.

Hi Rick. I haven't heard of either of those shows surfacing before. Would you be able to do copies of these?

Here's some further info on these missing shows. The 1975 show is a 40 min prog, and the 1977 show is a 35 min prog. After the 77 show ends there is the last 5 min of 07/08/75 (Jimmy Savile) - another missing show. Which suggests that the tape originally contained this show in full, but was recorded over with the 77 show.
I've had to make a new master, because after the first run through, I had to clean a lot of oxide off the audio heads. So I don't think the tape would have lasted much longer (typical 70s quality tape). But I think I've managed to get the best quality possible out of it, and it sounds pretty good now, particularly for the 77 show. This includes an interview with Julie Covington before playing the video of her no 1 hit 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina'. DLT says all TOTP fans will be wanting to know why you haven't been in to the TOTP studio to sing it live. To which she replies "well I've been very busy, but also there was some bother about getting a 100 piece symphony orchestra into the studio".
To Neil and Pete, you were asking about getting copies of these shows. If you leave me your current email address in my personal message box, I'll get back to you within the next 10 days to arrange that.

Congratulations on your find ;D!!!!! Great to see TOTP shows being recovered audio or video. As you might of heard I'm hunting lost episodes of the Australian version of TOTP called "Countdown" 70scountdown.50megs.com/ and I've have recovered some lost footage which I got from mates who were fortunate enough to come across the tapes. Anyways a mate of mine has recorded a Countdown episode in July 1975 on audio cassette too and has dubbed me a good quality CD copy, and it happens to be a lost episode too!!! So audiotapes are a great source to find lost music shows as it's more likely that teens who watch these shows would be able to record them to audio tapes seeing audio was cheaper than video. Cheers Troy
