Well I'll wager that there could be some clips in Holland.
Veronica tv appears to be the source for Wonderboy.
The Kinks are huge in Holland, and I bet they asked for Kinks totp clips like Wonderboy.

there hasn't been a big totp search by the bbc has there? holland is a good bet I think those 2 from the rock and roll video (kinks and dave dee..) come from holland, it was a dutch company that made it, I've got some names from the end titles so I'll do a bit of research I've got the names of the producer and researcher, they're bound to know. so all I need is their contact address.

Obviously at this stage I'm entering at a diversified point. All I wanted to say was europe is a great continuing source for British pop show off cuts as Keith Badman has found and proved but as stated getting the BBC to take a vintage TOTP release seriously is very difficult. A big factor is copyright clearence as some artists (quote ie: M. Jagger) are said to want inhumanly extortinate clearence payments (even though he must be rich enough already by now !!). I agree with Kev it's about time we need the idea of complete early TOTPs on a DVD if not compilations of 'orphaned' clips from the show, but the expense may be prohibitive at least while the artists are alive. I'd better not say anymore, no I do not have psychotic tendancies & am not planning any assasinations to get the DVD out. Perhaps we should call in Simon Cowell?

if the bbc got a move on and searched the globe as with dr who I'm sur they could come up with 15 or so complete "missing" shows
as to assasination only the truly insane think that thinking that your mad proves that knowing your mad means you must be sane enough to know, which must mean you'r batty you could off simon cowell if you wan't though (no not really that was a joke obvious but worth saying if only for quasi legal reasons)

By the way, a lot of the TOTP clips mentioned here (e.g. Wonderboy, Purple Haze, Ha Ha Said The Clown) have been floating around for some time and are not new discoveries. They all seem to emanate from European / Scandinavian TV although the BBC don't seem at all concerned about retrieving them (which has also all been covered many times before here).
I'd also love to see a DVD of all the orphaned missing clips trawled and gathered in one place. I'd also like to see the few surviving complete '60s / early '70s editions released in their entirety but having seen them, i'd say the quality is very poor and they would need a lot of restoration work to make them acceptable (not to mention the DJs re-dubbing their missing mute links on a few - although Stuart Henry is not around any more sadly). It's a worthwhile project though as TOTP is a flagship music show (albit one that is so under-valued); Vidfiring them would also help enormously.
