ive been trying to unravle the mystery of the farewell cream concert for some time now.
I think im starting to find something.
most websites state the obvious, White room from the 1sh show, eveything from the second.
Well there is more.
The concert was recorded to VT by the BBC a colour film recording was made that tony palmer edited for the omnibis programme.
Howeaver its often said that the first peformance doesnt exist apart from white room and white room from the 2nd doesnt exist either.
Well the first peformance Jack is wearing a thick blue jacket, eric is playing a gibson firebird guitar and ginger is wearing a headscalf.
second set bruce isnt wearing the jacket, clapton is playing a gibson 335 guitar and ginger is wearing a patterned shirt and a headscalf.
Anwhow totp 2 a few years back showed white room, this is from the original VT and NOT a film print this is from the first peformance and is more or less shot for shot the same as the film/official version except with out the rubbish sound and picture effecs (the sound quality is stunning).
The so called "missing version" of the 2nd peformance of white room was shown the other day on the rock n roll years 1968 as a black and white telerecording with the john peel introduction. (Probaby made from the original vt)
so does anyone else know any more pieces of the jogsaw?

I've just checked "Fresh Live Cream" and the original issue on DVD of the "Farewell Concert" on IMC vision. There are two different edits of White Room from the first gig. Has anyone got the newer DVD release?

Are you sure the TOTP2 clip of the White Room was from original VT and NOT from the colour tele-recording I'm sure I've got this clip somewhere and it showed all the hallmarks of being a colour TR and I think this was discussed on some forum about this time.

Yes is IS VT and it doesnt have the crappy echo added to the sound, It was shown on top of the pops 2 on the 10th feb 1996 laurence has this also as it was he whom taped it for me. 2 of the grabs that ive posted are from the vt clip (Colour ones) sounds of the 60s did show sunshine of your love a while back as a colour tr

Yes, just to confirm the White Room clip is certainly colour VT. It was shown on TOTP2 a few years back. Just a thought but the VT is comprised of mainly very tight close-ups of the band; could this mean the existing footage is just off-cuts (in the same way that the Beatles footage survives from It's The Beatles)?

I'm certain that when the final concert was shown in one of BBC2's first Rock Week's (1980-ish), it was the VT version, because sometime later, I saw a film version, and was very disappointed by the picture quality.

I remember seeing a documentary that was producted in the late 1990s. It feature them playing Crossroads at their Hall of fame induction.
Anyway, the TV version of this docco also had some clips of their RAH farewell concert and the source was definitely VT! These included White room, Politician and Toad.
Anyone got any idea where the producers sourced this material from? It was a german documentary, if memory serves...
Cheers, Nick.
