I was wondering about the source of this clip. The quality was a bit grainy, but it looked like a TOTP performance (the set and video effects were very reminiscent of the early 1970s editions).
Can anyone provide any more info?

The only little snippet I can add is that I think it was on the Rock and Roll the Greatest Years videos of the late 80's.
Most of the footage I've seen of the band is from Beatclub, but I don't think that this is were the clip is from.

I’ve always thought Free recorded 3 numbers for Beat Club, all 1970, “Fire and Water”, “Mr Big” & then later in the year “All right now” (which for me is a far better version than the single or the IOW festival). Bowie’s clip was captioned October 1969, surely the visual should take precedence over the audio when dating a clip on TV.

Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident where performances are dated incorrectly (noticed the Slade performance from the 25/12/73 edition was dated as March 1973). The Bowie clip is a Mick Rock production from December 1972 (also included on the double DVD set); I've gone into a bit more detail about this on the TOTP2 Message Board, but I got most of the info from the following site: www.5years.com/sovid.htm
