has it been locked out? I can't put anything on it anyway to answer the question ------------------------------------------------------------------- wrong wrong wrong wrong, zabadac and now i've found you are the same show, a 1/2 hour or so of audience member spotting has confirmed this, autumn almanac is more difficult because its so fuzzy, it still may be the same episode but odd thing, there is one man in both autumn almanac and the xmass 67 whiter shade of pale, either he is an assistant floor manager or a repeat member or autumn almanac was on the xmass day special but wasn't listed although if all 3 are from the same show then that would have to be 26/10/67 or 9/11/67 and the foundations clip isn't 19/10/67 but if its a choice between the database and me then I'm almost certainly wrong but I can say that the DDBM&T and foundations clips are from the same show. -------------------------------------------------------------------- ASM Guest Re: TOTP montage « Reply #276 on: Feb 10th, 2004, 11:16am » Is William answering his own questions? -------------------------------------------------------------------- yup I was in 2 minds about it ( / ) I supose what I said still stands, at least 2 clips from the same show turning up in different location must mean there is a better chance that this show is complete somewhere then again possibly not but the big question, why does peter quaife have "this is a piano" written on his bass?

answering my own questions again found this on the peter quaife page of the "rickenbacker" fan website "I purchased a Danelectro but was told to remove it from Raymond's sight. Pity, really. It gave quite a neat 'piano' sound."

I was going to reply to your post on the other thread but the "reply" option had vanished!
Just wanted to say that The Foundations (which is an insert tape) and Kinks clips are from different shows. Incidentally, the BBC's reel of the Foundations' appearance has three complete takes of the same song on it (don't know if the other two have ever been shown though).

can we please observe a minutes silence the thread is dead long live the thread I was going to reply to your post on the other thread but the "reply" option had vanished! Just wanted to say that The Foundations (which is an insert tape) and Kinks clips are from different shows. Incidentally, the BBC's reel of the Foundations' appearance has three complete takes of the same song on it (don't know if the other two have ever been shown though). any ideas which show the kinks are? was the insert tape from another show or just recorded during an earlier show do you have any leads on the audience member who is in the kinks clip and the xmass whiter shade of pale? he is near the stage in both clips, dark suit slightly spiky blonde? hair, chewing gum (in both clips) looks like an AFM to me as for the foundations re-takes, the singer was a bit off key in the sots clip so perhaps he was having trouble hitting the right note

Not conclusive which show The Kinks clip comes from but you can narrow it down to a couple of editions (all the info is on the TOTP database to browse through).
I've also seen various audience members re-appearing in succeeding editions so the same person dancing in two clips doesn't necessarily mean they are from the same TOTP. Way back, they used to "dress up" studio hands and plant them in the audience to make up the numbers!

thats a surprise, I always thought that TOTP didn't have trouble getting an audience, there is that Pete Murray story about the "Lady of the night" that offered him "anythng for free" for a couple of tickets still having said that I can think of a few occasions when the studio floor was a bit bare I supose if there was bad weather or a rail strike or something then not everybody could make it
as for which show I'd go for 26/10/67 because this was a repeat and that clip is a bit fuzzy

well at least Fred Montage will live in our memories, a great loss to the world wide web Way back, they used to " dress up " studio hands and plant them in the audience to make up the numbers! :)and not just studio hands there's that stones clip with pete best "the last time"? do we know where these 2 clips (almanac and zabadac) actualy come from and why they survive just between you and me and this forum, what do you think are the chances of more complete 60s episodes turning up (apart from the "missing" episodes we know of ie the Beatles episodes in the USA)

If anyone gets to see the Benny Hill episode when he spoofed TOTP (In b/w due to technichians strike) some of the TOTP audience are on that too.

the new style transparent totp2 banners are an improvement, over the old ones, now all we need to do is make them invisible and remove the writing, then see about lowering the volume of the voice overs (to a level inaudible to the human ear), then perhaps connecting all the clips, and inserting the original dj links between them and then pasting the totp opening and closing title and theme at the start and end some in the bbc want to make totp cool again. but the big question is, was totp ever "cool"?
