I've no idea, I got my first video recorder in 1979, a Philips (1702, I think, or was it a 1502??) machine which I paid a FORTUNE for!! First recording ever was Fawlty Towers' The Rat. I still have it. In fact, a few years ago I gave back an off-air recording I did of 'Nationwide' of the 9th December 1980. It was the John Lennon tribute night, and the BBC didn't do ANY sort of off-air recording themselves!! Unbelievable!

Gary
I know - it is unbelievable that this late on, the BBC were not recording (or even having 'off air') recordings of shows like Nationwide - this particular show, I understand from another thread I started, is particulary patchy in the archives...
Mind you, having said this, certain live shows must have been retained as a matter of course... say like 'Blue Peter' for example? I know this has a pretty good survival rate hasn't it?
do you still work at TVC by the way?
