Yes, Tom Taylor's name appears a lot on the TOTP paperwork (as do other names). I suspect it's maybe a moonlighting BBC cameraman or something. Possibly he set up Caravel Films specifically to produce this kind of material to order.

That Hawkwind film was on top of the pops week after week. I remenber that one well. Those films must have run into the hundreds as there was at least one each week.

The song the Cuff-Links performed on 26/2/70 was actually "When Julie Comes Around".

Dear Pete Great! those TOTP line ups! Really liked the 22/6/72 one - many thanks for providing that one. Pete do you know what exists on the Two from early 1971 which UK Gold wouldn't screen for that reason? Dates 13th Jan and 26th Feb 71 (I Think!) I'd love to know what exists from those two. Alan Smith.

Well, according to Kal it does, yes. The details were taken from the BBC P as Bs though. Is there any evidence to suggest it's not a whole show? If not, maybe that was the reason why it wasn't repeated by UK Gold? Anyone know any more on this?

Does anyone know what tracks are mute on the 14/1/71 edition? Are the DJ links mute as well? Laurence, I take it that that is not the exact running order. As far as I remember, only the following performances from 14/1/71 have been shown on TOTP2: - Tom Jones - She's A Lady
- Badfinger - No Matter What
- Elton John - Your Song
- Frank Sinatra - My Way
- Clive Dunn - Grandad
- Pans People/The Carpenters - We've Only Just Begun
Tom Jones, Badfinger, Frank Sinatra and Elton John were all shown as part of the "Recorded for Recall" Slot years ago in which a number of tracks from the same edition were shown one after another. No sign of any of the others as yet! As for 25/2/71: [/li][li]The Four Seasons - all or some of those songs [/li][li]Mixtures - Pushbike Song [/li][li]Pans People/Chairmen of The Board - Everything's Tuesday [/li][li]Crowd dancing/Paul McCartney - Another Day [/list] Does this edition exist as an unedited studio tape? The Pans People performance has not as yet been shown in full, although there was a clip featured on Digging The Dancing Queens. I have seen a clip of the Paul McCartney track somewhere with the correct soundtrack (can't recall where) but wasn't this also the performance for which "Sugar Sugar" was dubbed over and naughtily presented on TOTP2 as a 1969 performance?

what is the technical term for a tape which actually isn't the complete show but the technicians tape (which some have been traded around) eg Tom Jones - Shes a lady (1971) + other stuff like four seasons also another with technicians spooling (winding) on the recording, cuing stuff up, which was videoed like that is this a rough edit ?

The running orders I gave were as listed on the P as Bs, not necessarily the show running sequence (it would need the camera script or similar to determine this).
Taking a guess, i'd say that the "live" tracks from 14/1/71 are the ones that have sound. Possibly some (or all?) of the pre-recorded items are mute. If so, then it would be a matter of re-dubbing the sound of the records onto the performances (which is possibly how they were shown on TOTP2). Items like the Sinatra clip probably exist in the show they originally came from though and so can be sourced from there.
As far as I know, 25/2/71 is an actual edition , not a studio session tape.
All questions on content of TOTP editions from 1964 onwards can be answered by accessing the TOTP database (on the TOTP website) - I put quite a bit of the info there myself for everyone to make use of...

Pete Seaton very kindly mailed me the full line up of 14/1/71 & 25/2/71. Some tracks were wiped as T.Rex "Ride A White Swan" would be on the January show if it all existed. It would most definatly have been repeated by now. ASM

Laurence, I always thought thought that PasB's were exactly that; Programme As Broadcast??? It's a confusing term as it refers to both the paperwork at written archives (whish is an itemised log of all material transmitted in the show, including titles etc) AND to the actual recording of a "live transmission" made of it as it went out (e.g. a VT made by the BBC of an election broadcast as it was transmitted ias known as a "programme as broadcast"). The P as B paperwork i'm referring to doesn't list the show items in order though. You need other paperwork for that. Very misleading, yes.
