Did anyone see this on BBC2 Saturday night ?
It was featuring clips from various BBC and ITV shows for April 1970. I was interested to note that the particular week they were covering in April 1970 showed clips of the TOTP studio and audience dancing when no known footage exists from this particular week? So, anyone see it and know what edition they pinched the clips from?

At a guess i'd say the clips came from the 15/10/70 edition (I don't have it so I can't check). There is also a selection of 1970 colour clips however (brief and otherwise), and so the footage could have been from there. They music was almost certainly dubbed over something else.

That chart rundown was mocked up too, wasn't it?

I have also mentioned this on the TOTP2 board, but the tracks used to accompany the audience shots (if I remember correctly) were The Four Tops "I Can't Help Myself"; Jackson Five "I Want You Back" and Boris Gardiner "Elizabethan Reggae" which I don't think tie up with the week they were featuring.

Yes! they did use the October 1970 footage. Don't expect pin point accurracy on this series. The "Avengers" sequence surely should have been on the 1967 edition? ASM

Can't understand why they showed a 1967 Avengers in the 1970 edition either! Sure, it was on that week but it was a repeat, not a first screening that year. Surely a mention would have been enough. I gave up on pinpoint accuracy ages ago. The way history is misrepresented generally is quite shocking really. It seems that the perception of how something was is more important than the reality.

That 'Avengers' title sequence was a bit sh***y quality, wasn't it?
'The Avengers' has been remastered surely ?

Watching the 1967 edition I was disappointed to see that the top 6 chart countdown was not the one the BBC used at the time. Idle researchers cribbing from "Guinness" again!
