In 1971 Roger Whittaker hosted a show that used to have 'pop' guests. Slade performing "Get Down And Get With It" and The Bee Gees performing "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart " come to mind. I know they must exist in some shape or form as i`ve seen a couple of short links from that show quite recently. My main question is how many shows were there, when were they transmitted, who were the other guest acts and most of all, do they all exist and what TV company own the rights to them. As very little early `70s pop exists on film there maybe a few useful performances that could be shown from those programmes.

I believe it's LWT's 'Whittaker's World Of Music' - as to the survival rate: dunno, but I think Keith Badman's covered it in Record Collector, so maybe someone here could post the answer.

First the good news If its LWT then there is a fair chance it survives, their archive was transfered to digital as far back as the early 1990s. However the bad news is it appears the transfer was done as a matter of urgency as the archive was starting to fall to pieces. Such is the random nature of deterioration that while 'the Simon Dee Show' 1970 survives some of the episodes of ' the adventures of Don Quick ' 1970 were found to be unplayable and perhaps were never transfered with the technology available then? (this only what i heard and may not be gospel)
