Anyone else notice on the TOTP2 site that this is one of the options in the weekly vote?
AFAIK, only a short clip of this has ever been shown on the TOTP 25th Anniversary back in 1989 - it has never been repeated in full.
Also, its on VT and looks very good too!!
It probably won't win, but good to see it has resurfaced - hope its on TOTP2 soon.

Yes. It's a clip that has apparently always been in the archives but overlooked until now! Just makes you wonder what else is in there that's forgotten about or unidentified.

I'm sure I've seen it. They seemed to use a fair few of the performances from the edition of TOTP on vt from 1965.

No, not that Shadows one. Those VT clips come from more than one 1965 TOTP edition although they were compiled into one by a BBC technician at the time, I believe. I'm not sure if the Shadows clip is part of that same compilation reel - quite likely I suppose as it's also VT - but somehow it has seemed to slip through the net (as far as screenings are concerned anyway) in recent years.

Incidentally, does anyone know anything else about how and why that compilation of around 20 or so 64-65 era TOTP clips was preserved? Considering these are all that remains from those first 2 years? I'm also aware that the only 1966 clip to survive in the Beeb's archive at least is Stevie Wonder's "Uptight". How did this one come to survive?
