Who was who was Mirielle Mathieu (?) This may be mis-spelt. I have a fair quality audio tape from one of her shows broadcast in UK around 1968-1969. Any history or status report on the series would be most appreciated.

Wasn't she a french singer who took part in a Eurovision one year? I remember her name from the time well (and her face too).

Nay! Laurence lad! She wasen't in Eurovision. She appeared on many British variety shows in the late 60's. She had a French language version of "The Last Waltz" in late 1967 which I think was a small hit (Somewhere around no 35) Mirelle was promoted as a successor to Edith Piaf. What I remember of her is (NO! insult intended) she had a very unfashionable hairstyle - even for that period. ASM

Apologies - I thought she was Eurovision! Yes, I remember the "bob" haircut and the melodramatic delivery. I remember her version of The Last Waltz too. She was a staple of light entertainment shows of the time but disapperred as quickly as she appeared. Wonder where she is now?

Actually she's quite well known in France. I have a tape of her greatest hits somewhere in the attic, including Last Waltz and Les Bicyclettes de Belsize (which Engelbert H fans will remember in its English incarnation). It's spelt Mireille, by the way. Try www.mireillemathieu.com
