Hi all. Just was wondering if any of you might have any 1960s and 1970s home recordings of Top Of The Pops on formats such as Philips VCR cassettes, reel-reel or any other format?
If so I'd love to trade for a VHS copy of them.
Cheers Troy

Aussie, you're kidding us right
If we had anything like this they would be returned to the BBC.
and if another 1960's show was found, it would hit the newspapers
dont we all wish some could be found !!!!!!!!! : )

Hehehe I know it was silly of me to ask, but I figured some of you's might have or know of someone who has some Philips VCR cassettes with episodes from around the 1974-76 era so I'd thought I'd ask anyway. Just I see a lot of Philips VCR cassettes on the UK EBAY site so it got me thinking.
Anyhow I'm sure more footage will surface sometime in the near future.
Cheers Troy

I've seen a few poor quality TOTP clips from b/w home video recordings from 1973, the only items of interest being songs by Suzi Quatro and Nazareth. I think the BBC know of these though. There could be others though, i'd imagine.

People looking for rare TOTP material can forget about it surfacing in Australia. TOTP never made it on free to air tv in Australia until 2001 - only 37 years too late. I believe PAY TV channels have screened some TOTP stuff (complete eps) but of course this would have been provided by the BBC. Influential prog Countdown would show a very occasional inserted clip from a TOTP ep but as this program didn't begin until 1974, you can forget about tracking down anything earlier. However, Australia created their own version of Thank Your Lucky Stars featuring a large run of UK eps specially bought from ATV by Channel 7 Sydney. The likelihood of footage still surviving from this show is far better. Ready Steady Go had one special episode screened in Australia in 1964. Other UK music shows broadcast in Australia from the time included a season of 'Big Night Outs', The Tom Jones Show (1969/70) most of which probably survive in the US anyway, and a series of Cilla from 1970. I'm sure there are plenty more.
